This music stand is actually pretty sweet. I can't believe it can be compacted so much. As a musician who's constantly moving around I really appreciate this stand can be folded in such a way that I can basically fit it in my guitar case, which is amazing in itself. The stand once unfolded is actually sturdy and stays nicely in place, while also the height can be adjusted. The base has some nice holders to stop your sheets from flying around if for example you are outdoors on a windy day. The base also has a lot of space to put even large sheets. In my case I use regular printed paper and it does a great job at that. I also really enjoy that it is not overly large to block you from seeing other around or viceversa, which for someone who plays live this is a must. The color and finish is nice and folding it/unfolding it is very easy. This is a great music stand which I recommend. I use to have a heavy one which I am definitely not going back to at all.

This is quite a nifty music stand!I love the innovative "tap to open" operation of it. You literally just tap the bottom on the floor and the legs pop out and open to set up the stand. The various parts all fold out and up smoothly and easily, making it actually kind of fun to use.I love the versatility that this stand provides as well. You can easily adjust the height so that you can have your music at the right height whether you're sitting on a regular height chair, a couch, a lounger, or a bench, etc., and it even goes high enough to put your music at an appropriate level if you want to play your instrument standing up. This is very useful and helpful for those who play in marching bands, for instance, and want to practice playing while standing. Similarly for those who play saxophones or trumpets, etc., and want to play standing on a stage. It's a great way to get used to playing on your feet while you practice with your sheet music before you go on stage or before the big parade. You can also easily adjust the tilt of the stand to hold your music at the angle you prefer. The stand feels nice and substantial without being overly heavy, so that's a big plus too. It is sturdy enough for regular use and I think it will last a good long time. If you're using it at the higher heights (like for practicing while standing) it does get a bit less sturdy but not so much that I am worried about it tipping over or anything like that. This stand comes well packaged and the instructions are clear and simple so there are no issues at all with setting it up. Again, the "tap and go" is fantastic. The only thing that I would otherwise comment with is that I think this would be an absolute "out of the park grand slam home run" if it also came with a small zippered case to hold the stand when not in use or when in transport. I am a sewist so I will make a custom zippered case for mine but most people probably are not sewists and don't have the luxury of being able to quickly and easily make a beautiful custom case for theirs and I think most users would benefit from having a little zippered, handled case to store and carry the stand when necessary.I wouldn't dock a star for that, but it's something that I think is worthy of consideration by the manufacturer. :-)Overall, this is a really great music stand and I am very happy with it!

Upon opening the box I was impressed by the weight and sturdy feel of this stand, a weight that is both good and bad. I own two other portable stands that are *much* lighter than this one; while being portable, it's still a pretty hefty weight to add to an already substantial gear bag. On the other hand, the construction of this stand is superb. I'm impressed by the solid sturdiness -- the aforementioned lightweight stands feel flimsy and I can bend them easily (and I actually have destroyed one by accidentally piling a rhodes piano on top of it), whereas I think this one would survive a lot of abuse.I tried it out with books of gradually increasing heaviness. Flimsy paper scores sit on this stand no problem. A folder of big band charts, also fine. I tried a small book of Chopin Études, and it held up. It was when I perched the Urtext edition of Beethoven's Sonatas on this stand, that the weight was too much and it tipped backward. After some adjustment and fine-tuning I found a balancing point where Beethoven stayed put, but the centre of gravity was too high, and it didn't make much jostling (like turning pages) for it to fall over.Despite the tippiness. This is a really good stand. In my opinion it loses points for being heavy (but still, not as heavy as an old fashioned standard music stand) and for being tippy (under heavy loads). In every other way this stand exceeded my expectations and it's going to live in my gear bag for jazz gigs where a portable stand is needed. Deserves all five stars.

I really love the features of this music stand! My previous one was a silver-metal style that many people had decades ago. This one feels like I've entered a new age of music stand technology - it has innovative features that make it really simple to set up and start using.First off, to set it up you unfold the main section, tap it on the ground to extend the legs (which is a fun feature) and then adjust the height as desired and fold out the main stand supports as you need to hold your sheet music or book. It's very straight-forward to adjust it from standing or sitting height without playing with a tension control to do so. I had no trouble holding both single sheets of music or even larger books - the stand supports them both without an issue! It does have a bit of weight to it but that's important to provide a stable stand. The box is its carrying case - perhaps an actual fabric case would have been nice to include but I don't mind using the box at all.Overally I'm super-impressed with this stand and highly recommend it to anyone looking to update their musical stands!
