I am a little hesitant in purchasing this because some of the review said that the extension is recessed and not square when unfolded, but i received mine in perfect square and straight even when unfolded. It is also well built and heavy

I got it as a gift for my brother, he loves tools and it has helped him out and he has used everyday for his job. his favorite thing to do with it, other than using for work, he to show it to his coworkers and and say "look! it's extendable!". it works as it should!

This is a well-made square. I bought it because of the flip-up extension. Numbers and tick marks standout for easy reading. The flip-up extension has a snug fit at the hinge so when is flipped up, it is in-line with the base leg.

I thought the fold out was a bit gimmicky, and prone to fail. This thing is much sturdier and heavier than an average square. The foldout works great, and is extremely convenient for long lines.

Excellent quality. I little heavy but makes up in practicality. No need for a framing sq. For 2x8 to 2x12s. Ball bearing keeper a nice touch. Fits nicely in pouch. The boys at work are envious.

This tool simply rocks. It is really well build and hefty - perhaps a little too much as it makes it definitely heavier than most. But, that means it will last. Etchings are laser engraved even though it's hard to tell as I think the etchings are painted over to make it more visible. So expect the paint to eventually wear off, leaving just the etchings, which I hope will be visible enough.The extension is superb and obviously the higlight of this tool. It is sturdy and clips into place. Easy to take out. The hinge appears to be a rod hammered in. Don't think it will come out anytime soon - but only time will tell. It's a bit stiff, and not loose, which is great, but maybe tad too stiff. Perhaps a little bit of lubricant in the joint would help.My only gripe is that a metric version existed. Of course angles are angles, so that is universal. But the actual distance measurement is only in imperial - great for North Americans - and sucks for...well basically rest of the world.Great product - you will love it

What struck me first on this Speed Square was the functionality of the extension to a longer Ruler for marking larger Boards, fits easily into my Toolbelt and on wider Boards I used the extension to mark my Cut lines, great Idea by Crescent Tools, now I only keep this Speed Square on me and I don't have to carry two different sizes around with Me when doing wood works

I thought this square would be a worthless gimmick after using a normal speed square for years. I was very wrong it's very sturdy and accurate
