This wine bottle cork puller is perfect for pulling out the cork in tact. Unlike the corkscrew that sometimes breaks the cork apart, the cork comes out in one piece. It's perfect for those vintage wines when the cork may not be so perfect anymore. When following the instructions it is super easy to use. Well worth the money...I highly recommend it.

Ordered this for opening wine that has been cellared a long time and the cork is at risk of crumbling with a regular corkscrew. It is sturdy and works really well if you know how to use it. There are YouTube tutorials for using an Ah-so and I think that would help some of the people who said they had trouble using it. Basically you carefully insert first the longer side then the shorter one, then gently rock it back and forth as you push it in. Once you’ve got it all the way in, start to twist it. When you see the cork is turning, pull as you continue twisting. When enough of the cork is out that you can grab hold of it with your fingers, grasp the cork & prongs and pull while twisting…..et voilà! The cork should come out.

You MUST KNOW how to use the AH-SO wine puller. sellers of this item must give EXPLICTE instructions on how to use it. 1. insert the longer prong between the cork and inside edge of the bottle & push it down about 1/4 inch. 2. Insert the shorter prong between the cork and the opposite side of the bottle & push it in about 1/4 inch. 3. Only push in one prong at a time. If you push both prongs at once, the cork will pushed into he bottle. Push in the longer prong first, about 1/4 inch , stop then push the shorter prong, alternate sides until all the way in. If the cork starts to go in, stop. slowly twist the handle and pull up, until plush with the top. Alternately push in the prongs until it goes all the way in. Then reposition your hand to twist the handle and pull up. Twist and pull until the cork is out.I last used this ah-so corker to open a bottle of 1974 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

If you have wines that are 10+ yrs old and have a cork seal then you must get one of these openers. The cork seal is broken very smoothly and the wine avoids being contaminated with chucks of cork when using a waiters friend or similar screw type opener.

Don’t listen to other bad reviews. I can only assume people who wrote negative reviews used improper technique. The tongs are the perfect thickness. Cork came out with ease. Sure there may be better ones, but for the price, this is just fine. Insert one prong ever so slightly. Then the other prong. Then gently rock back and forth while pushing down the slightest bit. It will naturally go down into the bottle without pushing the cork down. Once all the way in, twist while gently pulling up, quarter rotation at a time. If you have trouble, don’t blame the product, just watch a YouTube video for the technique and this will work great. This is my first Ah So, I bought it to open a very old bottle that I know will have a soft cork.
