The DEWALT DNP612 Plunge Base for Compact Router has an sdjustable, tool-free steel motor cam lock that makes depth adjustment and base changes quick and solid-locking. It has precision machined brass bushings and case-hardened steel guide rods that provide a smooth and accurate plunge stroke. It has a xlear, LEXAN sub-base to provide enhanced base durability, bit visibility, and accepts standard template guide bushings. The rubber overmolded handles and low center of gravity design provide best-in-class user comfort, balance, and control. IT has a heavy-duty, precision machined, die-cast aluminum base and motor housing for durability and low tool weight. The five position, adjustable turret stop assists in stepped or repeated plunge cuts and it has micro-fine depth adjustment on the plunge base 5/128" per turn for precise routing in veneer and inlays. It also has an easy to reach plunge lever and switch for superior control while routing.

Excellent accessory that adds a lot of functionality to Dewalt's compact router. It's built well, it's a simple & straight forward design, and it functions smoothly. If you already have the router, it's a worthwhile uprgade.

Took advantage of a sale with the router including the plunge base. I have played with it but have not physically used it but I feel this will be a great addition to the router for certain projects

I love my new Dewalt router and was very excited to buy the plunge base for it. Using this tool was comfortable and easy.My two points of contention are:1) The plunge lever hits the rubber handles when you try to engage/disengage it. It's already wearing the handle after one use and isn't convenient at all. I'm thinking of grinding the lever down so it doesn't make contacts.2) the collet to change out your bits only has one angle to connect the provided wrench to. With the plunge base attached, you have to use the wrench until it hits one of the support rods, then reposition the collet with your fingers until you can get an angle on it with the wrench again, crank, reposition, crank. It makes changing bits somewhat of a chore.Otherwise, very sturdy in its construction, comfortable to hold, good lines of sight so you can see what you're doing. Helpful depth gauge and stop.This is my first Dewalt tool and I feel it's going to last a long time. (except for the rubber handle, unless I fix that it's going to wear down fast.)
