I’ve always loved the feel, comfort, and marking of the Enviro Stiks pencils. I’m glad I found these online as they are very hard to find in store. This purchase didn’t disappoint, but it should be noted that the Dixon Enviro Stiks pencils bought here (and I believe on all other sites too) are not the original model / SKU. As mentioned in other Amazon reviews, the model that’s now being sold is the X96201, not the old 96201. The old 96201 has little to no finish on it but the product that’s now being sold (X96201), does appear have some sort of clear coat on it. It feels a bit more slippery in my hand as a result. Still better than most other HB / #2 pencils you will find. I wish the manufacturer and/ or vendor would make a better distinction between the two SKUs. Still a great pencil!

Of course the company had to take a wonderful product and "improve" it. The originals where unvarnished cedar, wonderful to write with, your hold would never slip. The new version, appear to be pine and are finished with urethane. At least the leads still write clean and dark.

The graphite core feels identical to 2016 Dixon Ticonderoga 13882 HB. And the finish is natural. Love the fact that the pencil will taken on a deeper colour as you use it more. Wish it was made out of cedar wood. That would make it my ideal pencil.
