Prima slijpsteen.

I own 4 DMT diamond stones. Unfortunately, everyone I have bought before this one has defects. I am happy with this stone though. My extra coarse stone is missing diamond coverage all along the edges and has a big blotch missing in one of the corners. My DMT fine stone has extremely bad grit contamination that you can not only feel, but can hear, when sharpening. So, I was happy when I finally got a DMT stone that didn't have grit contamination and has complete diamond coverage including along the edges. It is unfortunate that it took 4 stones to get a good one. To say DMT's quality control is subpar is an understatement. I kept seeing good reviews and so thought maybe I was getting lemons, just a random bad one. But no. Everyone stone except this one had significant defects. That being said.... even with the defects the stones work well enough and will last. I know it's odd to say so much negative and have a 5 star review. That is simply because this stone was exactly what it should have been. No grit contamination, no missing coverage and a great stone. It cuts fast and leaves a uniform scratch patter. It is well built and will last year's making it a great buy for $50. If you can get a DMT diamond stone without any significant defects, then you're getting a good buy. These stones will last for a very long time if you take care of them and can cut any steel type including super steels like s110v or s90v.

I am accumulating more and more DMT sharpening stones and I would recommend others to do the same. I started with a coarse and a fine grit which got my tools 95% of the way there. The coarse grit was used to set the angle and I polished it up with the fine. A few strokes on a leather strop and near razor sharpness. I bought an extra fine grit stone to see how much sharper I can make my knives. The point is that you can get really sharp blades with just one or two stones. I recommend the DMT stones basically because they work and should last a lifetime for the average user. They are made in the USA, come with great reviews, and I really like the results. I have lots of natural stones in my toolbox but modern steels can sometimes be difficult to sharpen and I don’t think I have used them in years. There is no question that diamond sharpening stones will sharpen any knife with a lot less time and effort, not to mention that you don’t end up with a huge mess afterwards.

I've used my 3 DMT DiaSharp diamond plates-120 MICRON, COARSE, and EXTRA FINE for about 15 years. I finally bought the FINE grit stone to complete my 'set'.I was surprised to see that the new stone is not labelled on the edge like the older stones. Printing the label on the abrasive face of the stone seems like a peculiar decision, and it makes it impossible to identify the stone when it's in a storage box.I'm hoping that the abrasive quality hasn't changed for the worse, also.

My stone had a manufacturing issue that I discovered after the return window had closet but DMT support solved it in an excellent way. I'm very happy with my stone and the support experience I had couldn't be better.Fully recommended!

This Sharpening Plate is great, with very little grit contamination (random larger pieces of grit causing non-uniform sharpening). This comes with 4 rubber feet you can attach to the base of the plate which works pretty great for holding it in place if you don't have a holder. This will remove material quite fast while also giving you a great edge! For almost everyone, this is a One All Be All Plate you won't need anything else if you get this. (Recommend you get a strop just to get rid of the burr at the end(Need this for everything anyways))

I bought the coarse, fine and extra fine of theses stone and they all had issues. There's rust, pitting, scratches and on the coarse, there's a bit of metal protruding that would just catch whatever you're sharpening. I contacted their customer service and had an awful experience there too. I heard these used to be very good but it's no longer the case.

I had a fine one, so I just wanted to add an edge-making stone to my collection, but this is not coarse enough for my liking; I had a bunch of very bad blades. The quality is very good, don't get me wrong. Very flat surface (flattened the sole of a jack plane with it). However, I don't know if the one I got is defective or whatnot, but I can see some grooves in the stone (after some use) doing nothing bad to my blades yet, but they are there (tiny scratches 2-3 mm long hair thick). The edges of the stone arent 90 degrees and sharp they are rounded a bit instead (so not good to make a 90-degree angle around it, but it adds to safety)

These are excellent. I have the course, fine and extra fine 8” Dia-Sharp stones/plates and use all 3. The course grit works well to redefine a beveled edge for a blade with light damage, chipping or dings. Once I’ve done 5-6 strokes on each side I switch to the fine grit stone and do the same. At this point the blade is sharp but not razor sharp. I switch to the extra fine stone to finish the edge and make it sharp enough to shave.Don’t over press or over sharpen. Steady medium pressure for 5 full strokes per side. Lubricate with windex rinse with water when done and store dry in open air wrapped in paper towel.Takes practice. Watch YouTube for details. It’s not hard with a little practice. Long knives are trickier than short ones. For everyday kitchen knives you only *need* the FINE stone. I only use the extra fine when I run out of things to sharpen. If you could only have one get the 8” FINE stone.

Very good quality sharpening solution. I use it to sharpen plane irons and chisels and I've not seen the slightest sign of fatigue after several months of use. Guaranteed flatness, and no need for lapping... ever.To use, all that is needed is a small amount of liquid to lubricate (the manufacturer recommends water -- glass cleaner is another option with no adverse effects), then sharpen, then wipe off the slurry (the swarf is sign that it's working). The plate is quite heavy, but it helps keeping everything in place while sharpening. Let it dry and store it away. easy.I've found I can obtain results faster by applying very little pressure -- no need to force weight down into the stone to sharpen. There is a small break-in period, after which I started getting bluish halos (photo attached). It's a tell-sign cleaning is due, which can be done easily by a good scrubbing with a toothbrush and some kitchen/sink cleansing powder agent (such as calcium carbonate and sodium carbonate). The surface can also reportedly be cleaned with a high-polymer eraser. Even easier!Very responsive support from the manufacturer. Very satisfied customer! The prices for the coarse, fine, and extra-fine stones fluctuate somewhat, I'd recommend setting a watch.

Always my favourite stone to knock down any tool or mis-treated kitchen knife. Offers the most flexibility on-site tune up of wood working tools. Professional carpenter/tradesman and would not use any other brand than DMT. Prices have gone down since the last time bought it 10 years ago.Definitely better than Chinese products. Would seriously advise to cut a 11 degree and 15 degree wedge on mitre saw to familiarize yourself with the knife angles most used. 20 degree angle would help register planer or chisel blades needing touch-up in the field. Fastest way to get the final edge on any metal or ceramic tool. For one that depends on sharp tools to do the final sharpening - the DMT line is a great asset to me
