Yes it does have a 1/4" gap around it, at least on my 2016 Silverado LT it does. However it does look and work great. Very took less than 4 minutes to install. May just need sealant.

Did not fit in the back of my 2016, Silverado 2500Couldn’t get the one screw in and the seals didn’t really have anything to it kept my factory one on

So this doesn't fit properly at all. It seals tight on the passenger side but sticks out 1/4" on drivers side bc the plastic tabs are two different heights from driver to passenger side. 2nd picture is the drivers side tabs. 3rd is passenger side tab.

Brake light looks great on my 08 Silverado 1500, the factory one leaked so bought this instead. The gasket material is meh so I ran caulking all the way around as to not risk it leaking.

Very impressed with the quality at a low price point. The brake and cargo lights are much brighter than my smoked OEM lense with LED bulbs. Would recommend.

Looks and works great but you absolutely must buy some sealer to use around the edges. The OEM one says it doesn’t need sealer but they often leak too...

Installed today using T15 hand driver, both side cracked as screws tightened up. Not impressed.The tint on the item itself is not near as dark as picture shows. On a black truck it is gray. Will wait till night fall to decide to keep on.

Good looking product showed up as scheduled but low quality . Couldn’t get the product to fit on my vehicle then realized that a plastic part was “ deformed “ and wasn’t lining up I trimmed it and then it matched then it didn’t seal up because the screw holes reached way past the seal like two stilts trimmed them flat like my original was then it was perfect sealed mounted it and then the lens cracked as if I had over tightened it but I was using a bit not even a screw driver overall had to make it fit the vehicle it was supposed to fit then it cracked as I hand tightened it with a bit overall poor quality and wasn’t a “ bolt on “ process as stated
