Made relocating the PMD on my 1995 GMC 2500 6.5 Turbo Diesel a breeze! Everything seems well made and worked perfectly! The heat sink seems to do its job well. My PMD is staying much cooler now! Would definitely recommend!

Decent heat sink. Length of harness was too long. It affected the operation of the pmd so I couldn't mount it in front the radiator. Had to shorten the harness to about 18 inches and mount on a self fabricated bracket in fan wash

this thing as dirt simple to install. The hardest part for me was finding the thing in the first place which is in the valley on top of the engine under the intake manifold. after sneak a screwdriver in there to unclip the plug and then fish it up with a piece of wire then it's smooth sailing. I mounted the PMD in the bumper behind the license plate hopefully it doesn't overheat again.it might be unnecessary but I drilled a hole in a little block of wood and put the mounting bolt through it to hold the heatsink away from the bumper cuz I figured that bumper probably gets pretty dang hot when I'm sitting in the sun

I purchased this PMD relocation kit mainly for the extension harness as these usually are a bit more expensive. The heat sink included in this kit was surprisingly very beefy for what it looks like. I relocated my PMD behind the front bumper and there was plenty of length to the extension cable to do it. It has been installed for a while now and no more random stalling issues that these trucks are prone to have. Well worth the money.

The kit worked fine, but since I did not have a place for it under my front bumper I had to figure out where to put it without any directions. I also noticed that the supplied screws were very poor quality and stripped them out without putting any pressure on them.

The PMD (Pump Mounted Driver) relocation kit is used specifically for the GM 6.5L diesel engines. The original location for the PMD is on the fuel injection pump which is located in the engine V valley. This OEM location subjects the PMD (an electronic brain box) to extreme temperature and temperature variation- which is bad for electronics. The kit is designed to re-use the original PMD. Unfortunately, one can not remove the original, pump mounted PMD because it would require too much removal of engine parts (turbo, intake manifold, etc). As my PMD was going bad, I ordered a replacement unit (FYI- they are sold here on Amazon.) to use with the relocation kit.The Dorman kit relocates the PMD to another location other then on top of the engine. The extension harness allows it to connect to the OEM control harness. Being an electronic box that generates heat (similar to a computer CPU), the PMD MUST be mounted onto a heat sink to draw heat way. Mounting to the injection pump was suppose to be a heat sink, but it did not work out- so various relocation kits have been marketed. Two "main" styles have come out, this type, mounting to the bumper & mounting onto the intake manifold.The Dorman kit has three parts, the extension harness (6 feet), aluminum finned heat sink & mounting bolt. This kit is suppose to mount the PMD behind the bumper. The harness is long enough to allow routing so it clears engine components and has enough slack to plug the harness into the PMD (which is not supplied) before mounting the PMD/heatsink to the bumper. This is bolted on using one of the OEM license plate bracket holes- the new bolt goes into the hole from the front, & sticks out long enough to securely hold the heat sink in place. The fins mount to the bumper. In my application, the supplied bolt was too long, the threads were not enough to tighten it down (had to get some washers). The harness ends all appeared well made. They are designed to be weather tight. Other harnesses I have seen, the wire appear to be thicker (or at least the covering). If I were to guess, the Dorman harness is using 16 gauge wire. The only thing that is really missing in this kit would be zip ties (cable ties). If they were provided, you wouldn't have to get some to secure the harness.The Dorman kit is made in China, says it right on the box that it came in. As, it was also imprinted on the heat sink. (It is said that certain foreign made harnesses may not be weather tight....so time will tell if this harness is.) Dorman is a major aftermarket parts supplier & their products are available at major nationwide parts houses also.Side note- when mounting a new PMD to the heat sink, forget using the silicon pad that is provided by the PMD manufacturer. Pick up some heat sink compound/past from an electronics store/computer store (ie Radio Shack). If it is rated for a computer CPU and it's heat sink, it should do fine for the PMD/heatsink. Clean the surface of the PMD & heat sink with some rubbing alcohol. Coat the entire underside with the compound (thin layer- it will ozz out when tightened), including the two transistors (recessed openings) on the bottom of the PMD (grey Stanadyne's are recessed more, so more compound will be used vs other black brand PMD's).If there are any issues with the kit, I will comeback and update.
