This appears identical to my original, from what I can tell. By that, I mean the metal parts. The rubber is assumed to be correct since all my rubber parts were complete worn away. With this in place, my odd sound from the rear is completely gone. I don't understand the engineering, but I guess I don't need to!Advice for installation: Use an impact driver with an extension and swivel adaptor. Without the swivel adaptor it will probably be frustrating.

This is the second one of these that I have purchased and it was half the price of the napa auto part and seems to be of equal quality but it is hard to tell. I replaced the first one because of the a loud knocking sound from the rear of the car. Of course, this part absorbs vibration from the drive shaft and ?? so that one failed soon because the real problem was from a failed U-joint in the driveshaft. After replacing the driveshaft and another Rear Differential dynamic Damper (you gotta love that name) my CRV is working as it should (well almost). The Detroit DriveShaft was reviewed as well, and although it fit and the car works well, there is a slight low pitch howl which seems to happen at about 55 mph, so would recommend another brand if your are replacing it as well.--update 2019-- I gave this car to my daughter and she has put many miles on it and the hum noise as ceased completely which makes me think it had nothing to do with the driveshaft. I have changed my rating to 4 stars and would recommend this product and others supplied by Detroit Axel

This did just what it was supposed to do- replace the 15yo OEM piece that my wife was unable to hear banging around under the back of her 05 CRV, & stop the noise!Q: Do you need it?Ans: Probably not, lol, but Honda had it there in their original design so I decided to replace it instead of discard it when it brokeQ: Is it as good as the factory part?Ans: Dunno, but for the price difference, I saved $17 over the Honda wholesale part, I used this one (and it fit perfect)Q: Will I replace it if it fails again? Depending on how long it lasts, the OEM part lasted 15+yrs 90k miles... if this one goes 5 yrs (60k mi nowadays) I probably will discard it and not spend the $
