Received item in an undamaged box, but inside the wood was cracked and broken for the door. Had to return the item. The wood is unfinished as pictured. I am not sure how it will withstand the elements. I think it should have came with a small tube of silicone sealant. Definitely will have to waterproof it. Must paint it and give it some personality, Otherwise it looks like a DYI birdhouse.

Pretty easy to assemble, I did it on my own by hand until the last couple screws needed a power tool. Door closes nicely. I haven't installed it yet, so I don't have weatherproof information for you. But I primed it and painted few coats of colorful exterior paint, and hopefully that will hold up.It's a good size, but I'm not sure if traditional-sized kids picture books will fit.

Horrible experience. I was excited to receive, and when I opened the box, the first 3 pieces were broken, sharp nails and staples sticking out. I honestly was going to try fix the first piece, simple because I want to put it up so badly. But then piece after piece, broken. The wood is pretty cheap so it splits easily. Wouldn’t be good out in the weather for longNot recommending

I decided to put one of these in my front yard. There are quite a few in my neighborhood so it doesn't get too jammed with books. I like this kit because you can customize it by painting it or just leave it bare wood. Makes your home more welcoming and you feel more a part of the neighborhood.

Simple to assemble, pai t and install. Added two strong magnets to keep the door closed in strong winds.

Had it for a few months and pieces have started cracking. The wood doesn't seem to be treated for outdoors at all, which is bizarre considering its only purpose is to be outdoors.I would like to add that customer service generously provided me a full refund for this product. I'm attempting to fix the pieces with wood glue.

Bought four of these for a work retreat. They are straightforward to assemble, however, had to glue two pieces together which added to repair time (and, fortunately, I have a wood shop with clamps so not noticeable). At $170 apiece, I expected better quality.
