Extreme G3 is a gravity-defying racing game. After climbing onto one of 12 supercharged, fully armed bikes and engaging your protective shield, you're off on an extreme racing challenge. Race underwater, beneath the earth's surface, through cratered canyons, and out into space as you play through Extreme G3's nine racing circuits. The game's two-player split-screen modes include Team Grand Prix, Head-to-Head, and Co-op. This game also sports a landscape animator that renders course environments in a graphically detailed, futuristic style that's visually compelling.

Played this all the time while growing up. Was pretty crazy about it. Boyfriend recently purchased the new Wipeout game (racing, not the game based off the tv show) and it made me think of this.

The concept here was good, but poorly executed. I have played a lot of games on the GameCube, and usually I resign myself to playing games that have great critical reviews. This title I picked up as a budget title, and after a week, I sold it. It is fun as a rental, but save your money for other purchases. So far, Nintendo's own F-Zero franchise looks to be heading in a similar gameplay direction as this game. I only hope that F-Zero for the GameCube turns out better than this.

I'm a huge XG fan and of course I HAD to get this latest version of the game. Although I will admit that it cannot beat XG2 for N64, this game is awesome. It has the feel of extreme speed and the music helps to add to the atmosphere. The graphics are better than ever for any XG game -- as is expected. All of the race tracks are good too. This game has a great replay value because once you beat it on single player you can always play the multiplayer version against friends or team up to race together. I loved the new aspect of being able to race on the same team as a friend! The only improvements to this game would be the addition of a few more tracks, or maybe different variations of the existing ones as in previous versions of XG. Overall, I would reccommend this game to anyone, and it is a must-have if you are a big fan of racing games!!!

I didn't like this game. PS2 has it's Wipeout Fusion, Xbox has it's Quantum Redshift, and Gamecube has this. This game dosen't compare to the other systems. It basicaly is a very mediocre futuristic racing title. I suggest you stay away.

Everyone loves speed, right? And when it comes to the Extreme-G franchise, that's a given. XG3 is probably the best racer on the Gamecube to date. The one player mode will take a lot of work to open up all [twelve?] tracks, but that's only because it's such tough competition... REALLY tough competition. Unlike previous titles, XG3 also has a new kind of feature: your shield coincides with your power boosts and your ammo, though rechargable, is limited. It's hard to explain, but it works wonders. The real reason you should invest in this game is for its multiplayer capacity. There is no battle mode, which is kind of a damper. But the silky-smooth framerate alongside super-fast racing is compliments alone. But the weapon/shield system works beautifully with three or four people. That's a note to say that playing with less than three people is not much of a rewarding experience. Consider this aspect before buying.

The Extreme G games have always been about conveying a sense of intense speed and this one falls somewhat short. Riding on souped up motorcycles complimented with machine guns, energy shields, and weapons you can pick up, you race against a field of other drivers on long courses over scenic landscapes. The graphics are very good on this game with a frame rate to match. The action is seemless despite the speeds being traveled. The game falters though in that all the motorcycles are modeled with the same tech specs. Another problem is that you aren't travelling fast enough. In the games for the N64, I was breaking the sound barrier on a frequent basis. I didn't break it once on this game because my bike's not fast enough! With a somewhat awkward game setup, Extreme G3 fails on several aspects but is still not a bad racing game. The bike's handle beautifully, even though the controls could be simplified slightly. Overall it's a decent racing game that fails to live up to the previous titles.

I got this game because it had a picture of a girl on the cover, and I figured my daughter would like it. Well, I of course had to try it out, and lo and behold, I found the best game I have ever owned. I play tons of PC games, and I have every game worth getting, as well as owning about 26 GameCube games. This is a game that tests more than your ability to manipulate a controller, as it requires some intelligent decision making. I am not really that good at most games, and usually plod along on the easy levels, but this game, although it does not have easy normal and hard levels, is almost intuitive. Despite the fact that there is a bit of a learning curve, it is fun all the way.The scenery is splendid, and I don't just mean graphically, either, as the futuristic settings are compelling.I am 39 years old, and reach for this game daily. Of all the games I own this is by far the most fun to play, with a real draw to play it again. Best of all, you don't have to trudge through levels with all sorts of hidden stuff to discover. If this is your first game, or if you everyone except this one, get it.By the way, forget getting it fot the kids. Once an adult tries it out, the kids will be sitting around watching you play. This game rates an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
