It never opened a single can from the day I bought it. Had to order another and went with a different brand. The teeth on it were stripped or not touching the right spot or something.

Sturdy, easy on the hands and makes can opening easy. We've had one of these for many years. Purchased this one as a backup since I wasn't about to go through a post-hurricane no-power stint without being able to open cans if my other one broke. Can't be too careful, right? However, the original one (which is our regular opener because we don't like electric can openers) is still going strong with no end in sight. Highly recommend!

After 6 months of use, the can opener doesn't work and it shows some signs of rust. We barely use can openers, so there is no reason for this to happen in my opinion. This is not a professional can opener as stated in the publicity. I do not recommend.

This is a pretty simple device that really hasn't been significantly improved on in decades. That is not a bad thing. I mean there are certainly some aspects of the manual can opener that have been tweaked. The knob you twist with, for example, is much more ergonomic with this Farberware can opener than the thin steel butterfly finger wrencher I remember using about 50 years ago. There must be some improvements that were made in either the gearing or the blade also because this one turns with very little effort and cuts perfectly. It looks like they no longer favor the triple nickel show chrome plating of years past (I remember it used to flake off in sheets sometimes) and have instead opted for an industrial chrome that should stay in place and shiny for some time. Other than a few improvements this is still, basically, just a manual can opener. No WiFi, no internet connectivity, just put your can in, close the handles, and twist until the lid on that sheet metal cylinder is removed. However, when the apocalypse comes you'll be glad you opted for this dependable old school can opener. If you own one of these devices instead of your fancy 21st century electric can opener you will be in great demand. You'll probably be able to open cans in exchange for toilet paper. Lastly, if, by some twist of fate you end up breaking this can opener, Farberware says they'll make you whole again. A pretty good deal. I'm very happy with it.
