I’ve used so many of the manual ones it’s not funny, this year during a project I do every year I said let’s go big, the manual one is dull after the project, this one worked flawless and it appears it will for years to come. Cut binding time by 75% due to the electric punch

Prior to purchasing, our office was sending binding projects to a service. It was costly and time consuming for time sensitive project. Now the binding is done in the comfort of the office!

I have an older manual comb binding machine that's made by GBC, and I'm honestly torn between which I like better and for what reasons. I like the GBC because it makes very clean punch holes for the rings, and it also allows me to fairly easily produce half sheet sized booklets for log books and similar purposes (8.5"x5.5", bound on the short edge). The downside is that it can only handle about five or six sheets of paper at a time, so for a large book it takes quite a bit of work to do the job. With the Fellowes electric binding machine, it can handle many more sheets at a time. So I'm normally punching bundles of about 20 pages at a time, which it handles well. But the holes it makes in the sheets for the binding aren't very cleanly cut. They appear ragged and rough. Not a huge deal, but sometimes details matter. By the way it punches, it makes these little plugs of punched paper, and I can do well over a thousand pages without needing to empty the punch collection tray. That's impressive. However, there's no good way to create the small booklets like I mentioned earlier. I had to use tape and a strip of cardboard to create a temporary stop for my sheets to get them punched in the correct location for that purpose. I used a permanent fine point marker to indicate the position on the machine so I can replicate the stop guide location the next time I have to add one. As for the actual assembly of the punched paper into the comb bindings, both machines handle that similarly as it's a manual process to open the binding... insert the sheets... then close the binding to finish the book.

I'm a court transcriptionist, so lots of printing and binding in my life. Wish I'd gotten one of these YEARS ago!

This binding machine was not available when I ordered it, but it shipped and arrived within a couple of weeks, which was great. It's heavy, but that helps to keep it from moving around on the desk. Works exactly as described, and will accommodate other manufacturer's binding combs, including Staples. Operation is fast, smooth and quick. No setup required, other than to take it out of the box and plug it in. Modern look, fits nicely in my office, and I like that the top folds down to hide the machinery teeth when not in use. Happy!

I totally wish I had purchased this a long time ago as it is worth the money. Great machine, sturdy, a little heavy (no complaints at all just giving a review), well built, fast, easy to use. If you have ever used a manual binding machine, you know how long it takes to punch and bind. After one use you will not go back to manual unless your power goes out. Capable of punching and assembling as you go. Totally like the tray that holds the binding combs. Nice feature so that I don't have to keep the box on the table. This machine is so easy to use I had help from a sixth grader who after a little supervising and instructions was able to do it on her own. Just make sure that your paper sits all the way down inside the punching area. Use the line on the lid is your guide that the paper sits down properly. The edge of your paper should be flush with the line on the lid. I highly recommend to anyone who is considering purchasing this machine
