Good for sparks only. It didn't prevent the heat from burning the table that I placed on it the mat and on top of it the barbeque stand.

This thing is great. I've dropped so much roasting hot coals on this thing with no material reaction. That being said I do not know if there is any heat transfer through the material. But I got one of those fire "proof" mats and that this has melted into an unrecognized mass. And I do have scorch marks on my wood floors from where the mat was NOT on the floor

Not just a mat for the fire pit, it’s also the same material used to put out fires.The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is I haven’t had to put out any fire with it.

I put this for my indoor propane heater so the carpet wont get burn and it works so good. Love how easy to fold and hide it afterwards.
