You cut both directions, so you've got to have some strength. It works well for stuff that's too big for loppers, anything smaller and the teeth are too big for the cut. EDIT***Love it even more. I've burned out several small chainsaws taking out old lilacs. Today I did it with this saw, and it will work as well the next time i use it. Exercise has been had, shrubs and trees have been pruned. This saw is a bargain.

I LOVE this saw. I have taken down trees with 8" trunks with it limb by limb. I wish Fiskars would put it back in production. I bought extras for the future!

Does not fold, Very sharp!! This was perfect to tackle the large (4" diameter) branches in my front yard trees. Easy to clean and comes with a plastic blade guard that i keep on the saw at all times when not in use. Great value.
