I wanted to try these hybrid reeds having used both cane and plastic before. I bought two MH reeds. I was very impressed with the responsiveness of the reeds. However one of the reeds behaves very oddly (compared with other reeds and its twin that I bought with it). Over a hours playing the tone by ies flatter even though the clarinet is warming up. At the end of 60 minutes playing I did not have a short enough barrel (65mm is my shortest) to keep the clarinet in tune. The other MH Reed performed as expected so I can only surmise a quality issuse with the first Reed. I have been in direct contact with Forestone and they suggest the Reed maybe too soft. They are sending me some harder reeds.I was playing Vandoren "3" and Legere "3" - the Hinoki MH is reportedly close to a 3 (Internet comparison) but I suspect it is closer to a 2 12.The general tonal quality of the reeds does seem to drop off as they get wet but I am still trialling this.
