About this item

  • REVOLUTIONARY way to turn a dog's meal into a challenging, time-consuming game
  • AESTHETICALLY PLEASING feeder is made to emulate a tuft of grass, but maintains the appearance of a contemporary piece of art
  • SIMPLE DESIGN allows owner to easily sprinkle the desired amount of food across the GREEN
  • DISHWASHER SAFE and suited for wet and dry dog foods
  • SLOWING DOWN eating helps reduce the risk of bloat and the unpleasant after-effects of eating too fast, and it promotes safer eating regimes

The Green Slow Feeder is a revolutionary way to slow down the time is takes a dog to eat its meal. This helps to keep the dog mentally stimulated and to promote a safer mealtime regime as a slower eating pace can reduce the risk of bloat, a potentially fatal condition for dogs. Green Slow Feeder is easy to use! Simply scatter the desired amount of wet or dry food across the Green, and the dog will then enjoy the challenge of pushing food out between its many “blades” of grass.

I have a labrador-weimaraner rescue and she has no chill especially when it comes to food. It only takes her a little over 1 minute to finish her food when she eats out of a regular bowl. I've tried all sorts of slow feeders but none of them increased her feeding time to 2 minutes. I found this slow feeder at my dog's daycare and was kind of shocked at how expensive it was (we have the large one) but it has raised my dog's feeding time to 3 minutes. My dog doesn't vomit whole kibbles anymore! The key is to make sure that the kibble is distributed evenly on the feeder and not to dump all the kibble in one spot. My dog has chewed on the edges of this slow feeder but the effects are mostly cosmetic and it's still very intact, even 5 years after purchase. The only thing I don't like is that you can't handwash this thing if you want it cleaned well. So I put it on the widest part of the bottom rack of my dishwasher to get it cleaned. Other than that, overall a great product!

This is the best slow feeder for my dogs that I have tried. It really slows them down. Don’t drop it on a ceramic floor though. They are a bit brittle

Stra consigliato!!

Excellent. Our Labrador puppy would eat his meal (kibble) in 30sec flat. We bought this to slow him down eating and to give him something to do whilst we eat. And it works. It now takes him 10-15mins to eat the food and keeps him entertained whilst doing it. Only thing is, be prepared for kibble to go all over the place when they are eating, but if you have a dog like mine they will enjoy finding it and eating it all up whereever it is.

UPDATE: It's been about 6 months and we still LOVE this feeder. We use it twice a day, every day but it is still in perfect condition. Our dog still takes around 10 minutes to finish her meals. We are also happy to report she hasn't scratched her snout on the hard plastic in the feeding process. She's VERY food aggressive so I was worried this might happen based on other reviews. It is designed for the dog to use their tongue rather than their snout to push the food around, which I think contributes to her scratch free face. If the dog were to try force its snout between the "blades of grass" it is possible scratches might occur. Our dog fortunately doesn't do this. This is the best slow-feeder we have found for our dog, who typically scarfs down her dinner in about 5-10 seconds. With this slow feeder, it now takes her upwards of 10 minutes to finished her dinner. It's extremely well built and sturdy. I have no doubt we will be able to use this for years to come.

I have a yellow lab puppy, he’s 5 month old. When i fed him he would inhale his food. This bowl is awesome, he uses his tongue to flick the pieces of food out. It has slowed his eating way down. It takes him probably 15 minutes to eat 1 1/2 cups of kibbles. I love this bowl, it was suggested by the Labrador site.

*Edit: about a month since first use he finally managed to cut his nose on the feeder. It wasn't too bad but possible injury was a concern I had that delayed me in getting a slow feeder in the first place. So this product is not immune from that risk. If your dog is particularly hungrier than usual at a certain mealtime I suggest handfeeding or giving a snack before using this (so he doesn't smack himself on the darn thing like mine did).*Just switched over from a neater feeder, medium. Neater feeder kept area clean & looked nice but I recently discovered that elevated feeders are not recommended for dogs that eat quickly nor dog breeds that are susceptible to bloat or torsion. More importantly, placing rocks in the bowl wasn't effective enough in preventing my 6 mo old from inhaling whole pieces of kibble and vomiting up a handful of them later. After browsing slow feeders for months, I finally decided to take the plunge in desperation. Even if the new "challenge" frustrated my pup a bit or if the pointy bits made my dogs nose a bit raw I would not care because preventing lethal bloat and torsion is #1 priority for this poor pup.I've had the northmate slow feeder for two days now and I'm very pleased so far. They are not joking when they say feeding time will go from 2 min to 15+ minutes. Pup isn't complaining (just a bit confused about the change in feeding station) and it keeps him busy which is a win win.I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with a fast eating dog. It has given me more peace of mind. Only 1 star off because I'm still trying to figure out how to prevent kibble from dropping around feeder.FYI before implementing this fix for fast eating/chronic projectile vomiting (which he had since 8 1/2 weeks), I did the following as per vet's recommandations: have dog rest before/after meals like 30 min post walk or rest for hr after eating, raise bowl to mid-chest level, rocks in bowl, smaller meals throughout day, reducing water at meal time (this reduce amount of vomit), probiotics, half week diet change to wet quick energy food (made him have runs), calming collar and spray.

This is a brilliant product, well designed and the dogs love it. Eating time is greatly extended. It has even worked with one of my dogs who used to be very reluctant to get out of bed and eat his breakfast - now he's there - no problem! It works just as well with wet or a mixture of both wet and dry food. Little more difficult if you want to add any tablets, not so easy to hide them. There are a few more considerations before you buy, especially if you have several dogs. These feeders are very big and the dogs need plenty of room to get all round them without getting into each others space - can't just stick it in a corner. Also they are not ideal if you are in a rush, although you can speed the time up just putting food round the outer edges but this defeats the object slightly. I agree with the comments that cleaning can be bit of a challenge (amazed how many people don't clean after each use?!) I have found it best to wash promptly before any residue has time to dry on. A good wash in hot soapy water (can do in a bowl, clean one half then flip it round) with the aid of a silicone pastry brush, this is perfect for cleaning round the surface and nodules, Rinse and leave up on their side to drain and dry - job done (a dish drainer is useful if you have more than one to wash). A final point to bear in mind - if your dog has "spaniel type ears" they can get quite dirty and wet, so if you don't want smelly, matted ears you'll need to give them a brush at the end of the day (if you don't already). I consider the aforementioned as minor negatives compared with the pleasure and aid to digestion the dogs gain. I can't praise the feeder enough!

It really does work. It now takes our lab 90 seconds to eat a cup of food, instead of 9 out of a bowl. Thing is, puppy is really smart, and has figured out how to grab it, toss it in the air, and spill her food all over the floor. Great idea, a good way to slow down the meal, even if puppy really isn't a big fan.

So, I have a 4 month old Boerboel (south African mastiff) that INHALES his food. I tried many bowls, cookie sheet, putting "obstacles" in his bowl...nothing would slow him down. THIS DID. It took him 10+ minutes to eat 2 cups of food. That...is AWESOME!. Great Product. I give it 5 stars because it actually performs as described
