I needed a latching relay for a project in my motorhome (changing the sliding step cover from open or closed to press-to-open/press-to-close). I chose this self-locking relay module as it was 12V like the system I was putting it into and had a relay output. However, I did find out one important limitation: the input trigger sits at about 5V, if you pull the input up to 12V it destroys the module! Since my input went from 12v to ground, I decided to use the HiLetgo Opto-input relay module (P/N 3-01-0342 for the 2 channel version) to buffer the input; used the relay output from the opto-relay module to close the trigger on the latching relay module. A little more wiring, but it protects the sensitive input!Hey HiLetgo manufacturer, how about making another version with an opto-input instead of the computer signal input?

These particular relay units were recommended to me as a temporary fix for a problem I'm having at work. I need to turn On/Off a couple of different color LEDs to indicated a change in status - problem is, the output of what I am attempting to monitor is a brief closure of a NO contact.This relay board operates on a rage of DC voltages - right now I'm powering it with a 9-volt battery, having connected a 9-volt battery connector to the power input terminal. The two LEDs are connected to the switching relay terminal, and to a different power source. So far this works as needed. Haven't had any issues with the module. My one and only comment/complaint would be that the two terminal blocks on this module are of poor quality - everything else is more than adequate. If I were to end up using these for something permanent rather than temporary - I would replace the terminal bocks - probably just soldering wires in their place. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase.

This is an excellent little product once you figure out how to get it to work. It turns a momentary signal to a continuous signal.Unfortunately, there is scant documentation, other than in information that the vendor posts on Amazon. For me, at least, this was not enough to understand how it works, and I have no previous experience with relays to fall back on.It took me a few days to figure this out. Please see the attached (crude) diagram I made that explains:- The relay itself needs to receive power.- This power IS NOT transmitted through the relay. It's just to operate the relay's electronics and the actual mechanical switch inside (which you can hear turn on and off when you click the "test" button or use the switch port).- The OTHER END, where your "controlled device" connects to, needs it's own power source. This is the part that confused me, as I (naively) assumed that the 12v power source flowed in from one end, and out the other, and the relay was just acting as a fancy switch. This isn't the case.- The relay does "switch" power on and off - between the (+) and (-) terminals (or technically, the NO and COM terminals) when it's triggered. But these terminals need to be powered independently of the relay's power.Once I realized this, the relay worked perfectly. Hope it works for your needs.
