Characteristics of Hardness Tester:
Type A is suitable for general rubber, synthetic rubber, soft rubber, polycarbonate, leather, wax, etc.
Type 0 is suitable for microporous materials made of crispy and plastic containing foaming agent
Type D is suitable for general hard rubber, resin, acrylic, glass, thermoplastic rubber, printing plate, fiber, etc.
Selection guide:
Shore hardness tester is dedicated to rubber hardness measurement
A type hardness 40-70 is the best
O type or C type, hardness 10-40 is the best
D type hardness 70-100 is the best
Select the model without knowing the hardness, use your nail or pen to apply vertical force
Type A with indentation and Type D without indentation

I was hesitant ordering this due to the cost less than half at our local race shops. With that being said We have used for couple months now and It test the same as the higher priced durometer. Case is solid with foam filled. We keep in race trailer so get bounced around with no problems. Will order 2nd for shop for next season. Highly recommend.
