I didn't expect much out if this antenna, but to my surprise, it's working well as an indoor antenna on the ham and GMRS. I have it sitting on a cookie sheet on top of my refrigerator, using low power, I am hitting the repeaters with a swr of 1.3!

Great antenna for the money. OOTB with a 20" pizza pan as a ground plane I'm getting a 1.6 SWR in the 146mhz range in the 2m band. I haven't tested it with UHF but I access a lot of repeaters in the 2m band and for a cheap indoor antenna this fits the bill. Planning to add some radials around the pizza pan to improve further but overall this antenna is doing a great job and able to communicate with repeaters miles away from inside the house. Additionally compared to the Diamond MR-77 this antenna is a considerably better value IMHO. The base is felt, vs Diamond's "sticker" to cover the magnet. If you were planning to use this as a car antenna for mobile, don't think twice and pull the trigger.

This is a great antenna, swr is flat on 5 watts and 1.5 on 45watts, works very well, sometimes I think it works better then my other more expensive antennas, looks cool on my truck as well, good conversation starter, would buy again, and the price is right.

When I tested this on my car mobile GMRS unit, it did pretty well. About the same as the much bigger Nagoya whip I have on my Jeep. However, it really made a dramatic change when I hooked it up to my at-home base unit, which had been running off a simple 14" car antenna, and was originally what I purchased this for. Holy smokes. Added about 50% more range to the home unit. This antenna is currently on top of my desk, using an old steel cookie sheet for a ground plane, and it PUNCHES with this antenna. I am going to roof mount it soon, and have no doubt the range will be increased even more. SWR about 1.1 on GMRS channels, 25 watt station. Where I was getting a mile and a half before (thickly urban area with lots of blocking buildings and trees), now I can reach out well over 2.25 miles.I can't attest to Ham usage, but if you're looking for an antenna that really packs a punch on GMRS, this is a GREAT buy.[edit] I went up on my roof and attached this to a flat piece of steel. Test results were unbelievable. I am punching 4-6 miles from home with it now. It picks up repeaters and traffic that I had never been able to hear before.[edit 5/5/24] I attached this to the very top of my chimney, running coax to my base station. (Base station in house was also upgraded to a 50w GMRS unit.) The range on this is unbelievable. Now able to hit two repeaters that were out of range, with the antenna at ground level, and can simplex up to 12 miles away. This is shockingly good due to the terrain/geography of N Dallas. With the 25w put in my vehicle, I can simplex 11 miles west, 10 miles south, and 6 miles north. East is hit or miss, due to many hills and buildings, but gets from 3-6 miles. Height is might, and this antenna works really well.
