--Ramon Allones

This album shows the intricacy of the blues performed by a true artist. Ignore the negative reviews. They are looking for the earlier rock based bluesman THis is the real thing. Muddy would be proud, If you don"t have it get it before it disappears!

There's a track on this album called Lone Wolf. This whole album is great, but worth buying for just Lone Wolf. First heard the track on an Internet Blues station called Aardvark Blues. It's so good, I think I'll be visiting Amazon on a regular basis. If you're in the UK, see Johnny Winter in April 2013 at The Robin in Bilston. He's just the No 1 Blues man

Ich finde die Platte absolut prima. "I smell smoke allein" lohnt bereits die Anschaffung.

I'd like to address other reviewers complaints.Daniel Anderson - You mention one song where it fades out during the vocals. You're taking about "The Monkey Song." Being a doctor you must know what he's talking about when he says "Monkey." The song times out at 6:12. It's the 2nd weakest cut on the CD and the longest. It fades with him giving Monkey inuendo one liners. How many more p---y remakes do you need? As far the CD being to short and being the old mindset of LP days I say you're wrong. I ideal release would be all meat & no filler. 80 minutes would be too much.James Savage - He is 60 friggin years old! His health has been on a rollercoaster ride for the past decade. His tone has been the same tone he's been playing at his live shows since the early 90's. While his vocals are the same or as strong as they were decades ago - but neither are mine or your's. But his voice (& guitar tone)is the same that I heard on the last live album (as a "real" fan I'm sure you have that) and bootlegs. One guys says the best songs are "the acoustic one's" Well, he's part right. The ONE acoustic cut is great. The Cd is not his greatest but its not his worst. Live In NYC was nothing to write home about and a few cuts on I'm A Bluesman are much better than some of the songs on Raisin Cain and my least favorite JDW III. "Lets Start All Over Again", "That Wouldn't Satisfy" and "I Smell Smoke" are the best cuts. "The Monkey Song" is just a mess as is "Shake Down." The rest are all decent songs and all have some pretty good playing considering everything he's been through over the last 5 years. This CD is not for those of you who shout "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo" at his live shows. Stick with your CD copies of And Live and leave Johnny to those who are real fans.

OUI, JOHNNY WINTER EST UN BLUESMAN ET N'IMPORTE QUEL FAN LE PENSE AUSSI. JOHNNY WINTER RESTERA UN GUITARISTE LEGENDAIRE. APRES UNE LONGUE CONVALESCENCE IL NOUS REVIENT AVEC UN NOUVEL ALBUM ET IL NOUS ARROSE ABONDAMMENT DE BLUES ROCK. BIEN SUR IL N'Y RIEN QUI PUISSE DECEVOIR SES PREMIERS FANS NI EXCITER LES INCONVERTIS DANS CET ALBUM. IL POSSEDE TOUJOURS SON JEU DE GUITARE ACCOMPLI MAIS QUELQUEFOIS ENNUYEUX. LES CHANSONS SONT UN MELANGE D'ORIGINALES ET DE CONTRIBUTIONS DES ANCIENS ET NOUVEAUX MUSICIENS QUI L'ONT ACCOMPAGNE. NOTEZ LA PRESENCE DU PIANISTE DE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN (REESE WYNANS). BIEN QUE CE SOIT DU BON BLUES ROCK, C'EST L'ACOUSTIQUE ''THAT WOULDN'T SATISFY'' QUI EST LE MOMENT LE PLUS INSPIRE LE JEU DE SLIDE GUITARE DE JOHNNY WINTER EST SUPERBE. BREF IL A SU AIGUISE NOTRE APETIT POUR UNE PROMENADE DE L'ALBUM ENTIER. JOHNNY WINTER VIT POUR LE BLUES QU'IL AMELIORE AVEC L'AGE. JE M'ETONNE QU'IL NE SOIT PAS ENCORE RENTRE DANS LE PANTHEON DU "ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME".

Every time I see a new Johnny Winter CD, I'm excited to hear what the most amazing guitar player has laid down. Covers or originals, I've never been let down yet. At least until I put this CD in.While I realize Johnny has been thru a lot over the past few years, my original take on this album is "why did he bother?" The guitar licks lack the trademark intensity, and his tone even sounds compromised. Add to that the mediocre vocals, a far cry from the yellin' style he branded throughout his Muddy and solo days, and this recording does little to satisfy a real Johnny fan. While I can appreciate the fact that Johnny is still putting out an effort to make more music, I'm disappointed that he hasn't put something more cohesive together for this CD. While his band isn't lacking, he certainly leaves more to be desired.I certainly wish the best to Johnny and hope that his trademark slide playing comes back someday. Who knows, maybe this CD will grow on me. HOwever, my suggestion is to stick with his earlier work. You won't be disappointed.

I have waited over six years for this cd to be released. Worth the wait without a doubt. Johnny's vocals has mellowed since his last studio release & the solos are not as fast as they were, but IMO he is still the best musician past, present & future. Songs like Lone Wolf, The Monkey Song, Shakedown & Lets Start Over Again proves he still has the blues running through his veins. The band on this cd is as great a band as he has ever had. The addition of Paul Nelson I think will prove to be very interesting in a very positive way. I hope we don't have to wait another 6 years for another release. Even after the health issues THE MAN has faced over the last few years, he can still do the blues like no other. Like the sticker says on the cover POUND FOR POUND JOHNNY WINTER KICKS MAJOR A$$!!!!!!

It's been a long wait but Johnny's new disc is finally out, 13 new tracks - 52 minutes long. It was worth the wait, most of the tracks are up-tempo and really not a bad cut on the whole disc. I've only listened to it a few times but so far "I Smell Smoke" and "Let's Start All Over Again" are standouts along with an acoustic National Steel version of "That Wouldn't Satisfy". Johnny is 60 years old now and his voice has lost it's snarl and growl that we are all used to, but hey, things change. Johnny's guitar playing on this disc is still topnotch -maybe he's not playing lightning fast riffs like he used to but his tone is still there and that is unmatched by anyone. Get yours today, you won't be dissapointed.

Yea, his voice isn't as strong as it used to be and no doubt his playing has slowed down a bit, but there's still nobody I'd rather listen to than Johnny Winter. A great CD, worth the long wait.

This new music is really long overdue. I have been a fan since I first got a copy of the CAPTURED LIVE album back in high school. Some may say that Johnny has slowed down, and thats a fact for sure, but the playing on this is great.I look forward to seeing this living legend on tour this summer.
