Recorded for a television programme of the same name back in 1983, In Session bills itself as the only known recording of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King, who was Vaughan's idol and mentor, playing together. That leads to some heavy expectations, which fortunately aren't disappointed, at least if you aren't expecting the customary over-the-top performances Vaughan was famous for. His playing here is much more laid-back and controlled, which is actually a recommendation--the stylistic similarities between teacher and student are that much more pronounced. The songs are mostly King concert staples, with the exception of "Pride and Joy"; highlights include the T-Bone Walker classic "Call It Stormy Monday" and one of King's own, "Overall Junction", which features some excellent guitar solo work. The snippets of recorded conversation between songs are interesting curiosities as well. --Genevieve Williams

It's a great album but the copy I ordered only had 4 songs and Albert and Stevie talking where as the original session has many more songs. This does not have "Texas Flood", "Born under a Bad Sign", "Matchbox Blues", "I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town", etc. I feel for the price I got ripped off. The seller should have made it clear what was on this. It should have been a double album. I'd like to know where I can get the whole session on vinyl.

Tolle Musik. Man spürt quasi das der Blues der Vorläufer des danach aufgekommenen Rock war bzw ist. E Gitarren, laute Musik. Für echte Kerle ;-)Vinyl Qualität ist exzellent. Keine Nebengeräusche o.ä.

I've had this cd for years , which I bought from Amazon. Had album before that.Proud to say this was done in the TV studio in my home town. Show paired two musicians together and I wonder if there is other recordings from the show out there. Can't add anything else then what the people who have already given it 5 stars. Publicado originalmente en el año 99, una grabación del mes de diciembre del 83, entre una estrella en la parte final de su carrera y otra en sus inicios, teniendo como ídolo al anterior.Dentro del género del blues y en ocasiones se podrían incluir en el de jazz, esta grabación de más de una hora puedes encontrar maravillas como “Call It Stormy Monday”, “Ask Me No Questions” del gran maestro B.B.King o “Overall Junction”.Señoras y señores, no os puede faltar en vuestra discoteca particular, si estáis abiertos a todo tipo de estilo musical.
