These plug taps have straight flutes that are ground to provide rapid chip removal for efficient threading. I had a machined hole that required some threads to be recut and this tool did the job the first time. There was no need for another pass and the bolt threaded quickly on for a perfect fit. Should have bought this two weeks ago.
