The 5100 is a handheld, portable weather station that tracks and logs time-stamped data you need like moisture content, air density, and relative air density (RAD). It also measures heading, temperature (air/water/snow/wet bulb), barometric pressure, wind speed (current/max/average) and direction, cross/head/tail wind, altitude, pressure trend, heat stress index, dewpoint, density altitude, and wind chill. The 5100 features a backlit screen with night vision preserving light for bright sun or dark conditions. It's is also made for easy maintenance, no tools are required and the impeller is user-replaceable.

It seems to be accurate and I like the compact size. I use it for drag racing motorcycles. Nice to know what the weather is doing so I can predict my next run.

The Kestrel 5100 racing weather meter is a fantastic tool for Two Stroke Motorcycle or Kart owners. The RAD function makes jetting easy. You need a digital one like this because the Analogue ones don’t take Humidity into account.

Despite making a quality product I just can’t believe the Lanard they supply. I see on their website it is a $5 piece and is literally worth that…. I saw a video online that said in order to get an accurate reading for temperature and dens altitude best to move meter back and forth in the wind. Another suggestion was to swing it on it Lanard a couple of times then take a reading. When it did that my Lanard broke and the meter went flying… New meter got all scuffed up. Not sure how they can sell such an expensive meter and yet provide a $5 piece that falls apart on a light swing very disappointed. There must be something more durable they can provide with their product. Contacted Kestrel but who knows what they will do?

Just does exactly as described at once. Just pop in the battery and enter some small set up info (date/time) and you have a great weather meter. The Air Density feature is why I bought it, and it's been perfect.
