About this item

  • Plastic coated, non-slip handles on both the 7-inch pliers wrench and 7-1/4-inch cobra pliers provide a secure and comfortable grip.
  • The pliers wrench has parallel jaws that allow infinitely variable gripping of all widths, making it excellent for gripping, holding, pressing, and bending tasks.
  • The cobra pliers feature a box-joint design with a double guide for high stability and fast adjustment directly on the work piece by pushing a button.
  • The pliers wrench has a lever transmission greater than 10:1 for strong gripping power, while the cobra pliers have gripping surfaces with special hardened teeth (approximately 61 HRC) for low wear and a secure grip.
  • The pliers wrench works using the ratchet principle with no unintentional shift of the gripping jaws and no slipping of the joint, and the cobra pliers have a guard to prevent fingers from being pinched.

Knipex 8701180 7-1/4-Inch Cobra Pliers
Fast adjustment directly on the work piece eliminates time-consuming test adjusting of the correct opening size. Just position the upper jaw to the work piece, push button on pliers and move close the lower jaw. Once adjusted the pliers self-lock on pipes and nuts with no slipping. Optimized shape jaw will grip round, square and hex shaped material. The box joint design provides high stability because of the double guide.
Self locking on pipes and nuts ( view larger ). No more time-consuming test-adjusting to achieve the correct size. With the Knipex Cobra water pump pliers, you can simply position the upper jaw to the workpiece, push the button, and close the lower jaw. And you'll also be able to say goodbye to blood blisters you get with other gripping pliers. With safety its first priority, Knipex has designed a built-in pinch guard that prevents blood blisters on your hand. The unique self-locking adjustment and induction hardened gripping teeth means that once it's set, it stays. There's no slipping and no need to waste strength squeezing the pliers — ensuring operator safety and more efficient work. Cobra's unique jaw configuration can grip any shape object — flat, round, hex, or square. It also eliminates nut burring to avoid stripping pipes, nuts, or bolts. Additionally, the Cobra's newly redesigned adjustment provides 30 percent more gripping capacity than previous models. A simple push of the patented push button adjustment maintains jaw size setting and gives you the correct size opening every time. Just position the upper jaw to the workpiece, push the button, adjust the opening, and close the lower jaw. And it's easily done with just one hand for trouble-free operation in confined spaces. Cobra water pump pliers are constructed from chrome vanadium electric steel, an innovative high alloy, oil tempered steel that ensures longevity. And their thin head design helps you get into spaces other pliers can't, so there's no need to change tools when working in tight confines. Patented push button system ( view larger ). Quality in Every Detail Sometimes we give our pliers a really hard time. We try to destroy them to find out what makes them good and long-lasting. Because we don't want to leave anything to chance, we take a long, careful look. The steel Knipex uses is precisely hardened with a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon and defined parts of chromium and vanadium, guaranteeing optimum cutting performance and service life — even though it requires special production and costs a bit more. But our high product demands require this. The rivet of our high-leverage diagonal cutter also has to stand up to a lot of stress. That's why we literally give it backup: we forge it straight onto the pliers. This means extra effort as we have to precision mill the rivet to a few hundredth millimeters. But satisfied users are worth this effort. Knipex also looks closely at the small details. The angles, the sharpness, the hardness, the toughness of the cutting edges. The precision and smooth movement of the joint. The handle design and the finish. We keep reviewing these subjects, we research, we test, and we improve our pliers. About Knipex Headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, Knipex is an independently-owned family enterprise steeped in tradition and specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality pliers. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal), and the company is now run by a fourth generation of that family. The world's leading brand in pliers today, Knipex is focused on the performance, service life, and ergonomics of its tools in order to meet the high expectations of professional users. 87 01 180 Cobra Pliers, 7-1/4-Inch At a Glance Adjustment at the touch of a button directly on the workpiece Fast, firm adjustment directly on the workpiece Self-locking on pipes and nuts: no slipping on the workpiece and low hand force required Gripping surfaces with special hardened teeth Pinch guard prevents operators' fingers from being pinched Chrome vanadium heavy-duty steel, forged and oil-hardened

I already had the 7 inch and 10 inch pliers of this beautiful collection, in the larger comfort handles. I now got the 6 inch which is smaller and I absolutely love this size, it’s small yet fits so nicely in the hand. I got the dipped handles this time; not the larger comfort ones, and I’m glad I did ! They are gorgeous dipped bright color, much slimmer contributing to the slender and portable aspect, yet much more comfortable than I thought they would be. This is a definite keeper and I suspect it'll still be rolling in 20 years from now.

Another awesome, powerful, little tool from Knipex. The quality of workmanship and design is evident. Although quite short at around 5” it still feels and performs very well. A very useful tool that fits in your pocket and can fit a wide range of fasteners etc. The smooth jaws ensure that fasteners with a nice finish don’t get marred easily. Excellent!

I probably wouldn’t use these as much as a professional tradesmen in the plumbing business. But I do use these around the house for the odd plumbing job and places where crescent wrench would normally be used. I initially bought the 6 inch for a lot of the stuff I do and it works quite well. I liked it so much, I bought the 10 inch as it makes it a little more universal on larger projects.

I bought my first set directly from Germany 18 years ago. They were still in pristine condition after years of professional use. They got stolen. My new pair is still a great tool and I expect them to last a long time, but I definitely feel a difference in metal quality. These are lighter and have discolored slightly due to off gassing of chemicals in my work van. I am a journeyman plumber and won't spend money on inferior tools. I recommend these to professionals and homeowners. The best part for these pliers, is a smaller grip area making the tool do more work and less hand fatigue.

Review for 12" Pliers WrenchI bought a set of these but they were the smaller size (5" and 7"). I decided to also purchase the larger 12" set based on my experience and how useful these pliers are.Firs off: they're not cheap. But they are very well made. Forged parts, matte finish, tight tolerances. They're solid and well built as evidenced by the lack of play in the jaws compared to regular slip-lock pliers I have that will cam out). The jaws are set by pressing a button detent and that allows the jaws to slide from 0 to 2-3/8" wide in ~1/8" increments. The jaws remain parallel so can be used like a wrench, or on flat surfaces without fear of rounding off. They also won't bite/scratch/ruin finishes like chrome or soft materials like plastics or copper. The 12" length gives a good amount of leverage without fear of damaging parts. Perfect for working on plumbing fittings or just to replace a whole toolbox full of wrenches/sockets.Excellent tool and a solid addition to any toolbox or workbench.

I was first introduced to Knipex at a big box store. Someone had stole two pairs of pliers out of a set of four, so the remaining two were "priced to clear". Still the most expensive pliers on the shelf, but as soon as I saw the Made in Germany thing, well, I'm a sucker for that. The side cutters and small pliers are just really well built, really happy with them. So when I needed a bigger wrench, I decided to pay the big bucks for this thing. It's got traditional German quality, and smooth operation. The jaws are smooth on the face and open parallel to each other, so there are no bite marks, and you get a very solid grip on nuts and bolts. Kind of like a hand operated vise. I first used it to install a water softener with big plastic nuts, so this didn't leave a mark or dig into the plastic, and they opened plenty wide. Is it really worth the money? I don't know, but I'm sure it will be in my toolbox for a lot of years.
