I don’t know how to play a guitar, but this looks like a load of fun for a kid. It looks great with a real wooden front. It even comes preloaded with batteries! It’s simple to operate. There’s a button at the bottom for on/off and volume level. The fret keys on the neck labeled 1 to 8 light up when pressed. Depending on the setting of the green knob, they either play a note, announce a number, or color. There are three buttons that emulate an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or animal sound. The Squirrel Whammy Bar is cute. The yellow music note button makes it play different tunes. And of course, you can strum along with the strings. There’s a lot to discover with this instrument. It should be hours of fun for any kid curious about music.5 Stars

This is exactly the quality and fun you can expect from a brand like leap frog. We have an 18 month old and she loves it. The strings are fun to pluck because they make a digital sound and aren't just there for show. There's a few different settings including a low volume option which every parent can appreciate!

Another hit by Leap Frog! This guitar is a hit with my niece and she hasn’t put it down. She can strum and pluck the strings to songs with classical, acoustic or BARNYARD??? sounds so the fun doesn’t stop. Maybe some chicken and cow sounds for a few bars before switching back to classical sounds while she strums. A perfect way to learn colors, numbers and strum a tune on the kid proof strings. Two volume levels are available but the guitar is not one of those annoying loud toys to begin with. A huge hit at our house.

Leapfrog makes excellent learning toys and this one is no exception. The wooden part of this guitar makes this toy aesthetically appealing, while the plastic parts of it keep it lightweight and easy for little hands to hold. My music loving child loves this guitar. It has so many features and educational benefits with the number and color recognition and also fun music. Lots of buttons for kids to press. The strumming part of the guitar could also be helpful in motor skill development in younger kids. This would make a great gift and it seems like good quality, and listed at a reasonable price.

I got the LeapFrog Strum & Count Wooden Guitar for the little guy who loves anything musical. First, lets get this fact on the table. As far as I can tell, there isn't even a bit of wood in this toy; it's 100% plastic. But here's the next part...who cares? LeapFrog does a good job with toys like these. The power switch lets you choose 2 volume levels, both of which are at a reasonable level. Strumming the strings plays digital sounds but they aren't associated with musical notes like a real guitar. The buttons on the bridge can play sounds that are like an acoustic/electric guitar, or barnyard animals. There are modes that help teach numbers or colours. There is a lot packed into this guitar and it is sure to provide hours of fun!

This toy is so fun! My daughter is too and it’s perfect for her age. I’d say it would be great even for a 3 or 4 year old for pretend play. She’s very into music and instruments right now so this is perfect. In typical LeapFrog fashion the guitar is bright, colorful, durable, and has fun songs. It has elements of a real guitar: the numbers are the fret board, the string strum, the little squirrel is a wammy bar and the knobs at the top spin to “tune”. The buttons are numbers and colors, which is perfect for this age group. The songs are fun and catchy. I love absolutely everything about this toy!

Kid loved and kid approved! My little nephew will be turning 4 in June, and even though I brought birthday presents for my 2 year old niece, I always bring something for the other sibling (an aunt’s prerogative). He loved the guitar and was walking around the room singing a song (that only he knew the words to) while playing the guitar! It definitely was a hit and highlight of everyone’ videos!

My kids have been obsessed with this toy since it arrived. It teaches colors and numbers. You can actually strum on the guitar. There are three modes to choose from: acoustic and electric guitar and barnyard animals. The stings are made from a tightly woven rope and don’t harm the delicate child fingers. It is definitely baby size. My toddler plays it but it’s almost too small for him. The little animal that is the fret makes the same sound over and over. The green dial turns the guitar from numbers to letters to colors. I like how there is a low volume and high volume sound. If you push the music note it will play a song for you. There is no actual teaching of how to play guitar on this. You can’t following along with it and repeat what it does. I truly thought I would be getting a wooden guitar but it looks plastic to me. Other than that is looks plastic, this guitar is a HUGE hit in our household!

I got this to donate next Christmas, as they always need toys for the youngest. I love that you can try it completely while it stays in the box. Here are some of the highlights:Bright colors to attract kids, and they contrast well so you can easily distinguish each colorEducational - learn numbers, colors, animal soundsTwo volumes, and neither one is obnoxiously loudSmall, easy for small hands to hold. Yet the buttons are good sized and easy to pushSimple and easy to use, but enough variety that the child shouldn't get easily frustrated or boredDoesn't look or feel cheap, like some toys like this doI highly recommend this toy!

This little guitar from LeapFrog is super cute! It's just the right size for budding little musicians and it starts making sound the minute its turned on so its very engaging. There are multiple modes to chose from and it can be played as either an acoustic or electric guitar. Another mode option makes barnyard animal sounds when they push the buttons along the neck of the guitar. The strings are soft and actually make sound when strummed and when you push down the little squirrels tail it makes additional sounds and gives even more play options. As a parent I love that it's engaging and entertaining but also provides educational opportunities as well, and the best part is its not too loud or obnoxious.
