About this item

  • Delivers 1,000 or more cuts without changing the wheel
  • Advanced diamond technology provides 30X longer life than thin bonded cutoff wheels in metal cutting applications Average performance in 1” carbon steel square tube vs. thin bonded abrasive cutoff wheels.
  • Solid steel wheel body greatly reduces risk of breakage for added safety, increased productivity, reduced downtime, and a lower cost per cut compared to thin bonded cutoff wheels
  • Maintains original wheel diameter throughout the life of the blade for better control, reach, and precision
  • Does not wear down like bonded abrasives reducing dust particles for a cleaner work station

Lenox MetalMax is the new standard for metal cutting abrasives. Breakthrough diamond technology delivers 1,000 or more cuts (30 times longer life than thin bonded cutoff wheels)* without sacrificing speed or finish. Made of solid steel to greatly reduce the risk of breakage, the combination of a steel body with a diamond edge allows MetalMax to hold its original wheel diameter until the last cut, meaning better control, reach, and cut precision throughout the wheel life. The enhanced design substantially reduces dust particles and lessens odor. Lenox MetalMax is suitable for metal cutting applications including steel, sheet metal, stainless steel, rebar, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and works at the same speeds and feeds as thin bonded abrasive wheels.

Initial impressions are good. Long term TBD. 20+ cuts in of rebar and channel still working great.

I tried it on aluminum and it gets clogged quickly. I however 'cleaned' it cutting steel and it works very well to cut tubes an profiles, less efficient on plates. No fumes and keep the max diameter.

I bought one for my grinder and one for my portable Dewalt circular saw. I had trouble getting the right arbor size, but that is on me. I used the grinder to cut about 40+ pieces of metal for the walls in my shop and used it to cut out all the outlets. I have cut rebar with it several times and various other things. Still cuts like new. Must have tool.

These work good for cutting metal panels dont last as long on thicker metal not to bad if you compare to others

I've found that these things do last a very long time. They make much less dust than when you're cutting with abrasive wheels, although a quality brand of abrasive cutoff wheel does cut a bit faster than these diamond wheels. This cuts probably about as fast as when you're using the cheap chinese brands of cut off wheels.

Purchased blade for two reasons, a) because it's 6" diameter, b) because of the advertised 1000 one inch diameter rebar cuts. Cuts slower than an abrasive cutting disc. Works ok on 1/4" or less material. Hard pressed to believe 1000 1" rebar cutoffs in the life of this wheel. Cut a 10 gauge 30" diameter culvert and five 4"x 1/8" H beams and there's not much left in terms of cutting ability. As opposed to standard zip cut wheels, this wheel leaves very little cutting material air borne. Which make a big difference in terms of mess and clean up.Would not but this product again for the simple reason it doesn't meet life expectancy.

It’s good not to worry about discs exploding. A little noisier and leaves a rough cut. But it’s quick and reliable

I have a small cut-off saw, and it came with a low-quality abrasive wheel. That wheel kept changing dimension because of its low-quality, and it hampered my work because I kept having to readjust the depth of cut every time. This new wheel seems to be of far better quality, and is thinner, which means I loose less material with every cut. I have not been cutting much with it yet, but so far it does seem to be a very good saw for the money.

I used this for commercial ductwork, it lasted me 2 + jobs with hundreds of feet of thick sheet metal. I'd use it again. I wish they were a bit thinner though, its dense and retains heat! I'm not sure what that other guy (2 cuts) is talking about they do lat a long time
