horizontal surface - imagine the hook magnets attached to a ceiling with a basket hanging from it.

These are VERY strong! We used them to hang curtain in our skoolie, and it's difficult to get them off the roof! I'm very happy with them, and bought another set so I can use some in the house. They easily keep a broom hanging on the side of the refrigerator. Be aware, however, that if you slide them down a stainless steel appliance to get them off, they will leave scratches.

At first, I was not impressed, but I am now these things are very small. The magnet is probably the size of a dime maybe a little bit smaller with little hooks on it but they are very strong size they work for what I need. I use them to hold sheet metal, small patches when welding into a vehicle pretty good.
