Electrician/General Contractor: After using a Dremel/Dewalt Oscillating tools, Makita is DEF Best. Only 4 stars due to large diameter handle & $. Not cheap at all-but quality is highest for sure. Variable speed trigger of Dewalt is Very nice feature vs Makita separate rotary switch. Makita should DEF adopt that if not a proprietary feature? Larger machine head than most = skews vision a bit....something to get used I suppose?!. Vibration control is truly impress vs rest. As a contractor where time is money, this cordless toll will pay for itself very quickly.

I love this thing. The anti-vibration tech is impressive, and the noise level is pretty low considering what it does. I've found Star Lock blades on sale, and am getting decent life out of each blade.There are two small drawbacks to this unit. It's not as fast as a Milwaukee, (but also not as loud). And it cannot take adapters, so you'll have to stick to Star Lock blades. The reason is its new universal Star Lock attachment mechanism, which is compatible with all three Star Lock blade types, but incompatible with all the adapters for the other blades.

My dremel started shaking so much the blades fell off and the vibration hurt my hands. I chose this tool for the anti vibe tech, but I was still surprised how much smoother and quieter the makita was. It makes way more accurate cuts than the older tech, and cordless too. The main downside so far, other than the cost of the Swiss made starlock blades is that the head is so big it interferes with the shorter blades. I’m guessing that’s the price you pay for the anti vibe system.

My Dremel multitool died on the job and I switched to this one. The difference just blew me away! a cut that used to take several minutes with the Dremel (and quarter hour with the Mastercraft multitool I no longer use) takes under 30 seconds with this tool. The blade change is very easy, the light is a great help, the vibration dampening in excellent and there is hardly any strain on my hands when using this. The device is great ergonomically as well. I have had some 50 Makita tools so far and I can’t say I am happy with all of them but this one is definitely a 5 star. Highly recommended.The only con is that my old blades don’t fit the new standard and the new ones are more expensive but the trade off of tool-less blade change makes it worth while.
