What is this?
A bonded seal is a type of washer used to provide a seal around a screw or bolt. Consists of an outer annular ring of carbon steel and an inner annular ring of nitrile butadiene rubber that acts as a gasket.
Are there any advantages of the product?
The nitrile rubber is bonded by heat and pressure to the outer ring, which holds it in place. This structure increases resistance to bursting, increasing the pressure rating of the seal.
Because the bonded washer itself acts to retain the gasket material, there is no need for the parts to be sealed to be shaped to retain the gasket. This results in simplified machining and greater ease of use as compared to some other seals, such as O-rings.
How to use it?
The self-centering bonded washers are high-pressure seals that are used in the Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic pipelines.

The historic name for these is Dowty washers, my application is the drain plug on an AE80F 8 speed Toyota transmission used on Tundra and Land Cruiser. I measure these as 12.50mm(.492”) ID x 17.60mm(.692”)OD x 1.95mm(.077”) thk metal x 3.04mm(.120”) thk rubber. There’s also the thin inner section which serves to self center the washer, it is 9.76mm(.384”) ID. The original Toyota drain plug washer is 11.8mm(.464) ID x 17.8mm(,700) OD x 1.4mm(.055)thick, with the rubberized ring on the outer circumference.I also have a pack of Parker 600-0102-7/16 10.96mm(.431”) ID x 19.30mm(.760”) OD 1.30mm(.051”) thk metal x 1.90mm(.075”) thk rubber. In the picture showing the three washers you can see the Parker at the bottom, the MECCANIXITY is on the Toyota drain plug, and the original Toyota seal washer is at the right. Any of these three will work for this application. 5 stars for a Sealing Washer that works well and is a good value.
