My kids love these wooden toys, and given how much they love boats, I thought this was a great Christmas gift. 3 days after opening it, it's broken on the bottom somehow. I'll have to pick up some wood glue and hope for the best.

I love the wooden toys put out by Melissa and Doug. They have an old school feel to them and are robust enough to put up with anything children are likely to subject them to. This set is no exception and will make a great addition to any child's collection.

At first glance, this looked a little on the dull side as it’s a ferry boat that’s wooden and can’t be used in the bath, but like most Melissa and Doug toys, it’s actually an instant classic. It’s well made and sturdy, mostly of wood, but a few plastic bits and pieces that make it more interesting. It’s 5 pieces: four vehicles and the ferry boat itself, exactly as pictured in the description. The vehicles are 2 cars (red and green), a blue camper van and a yellow lorry. They all fit perfectly on the ferry and there are plastic ramps on either side of the ferry to load the vehicles. Moving the grey anchor on the front moves the ramps up and down and the white plastic knob on the side allows you to operate the vehicle lift between the levels.You can also drive the vehicles around on the floor, they are all very sturdy and will survive most toddlers, I think. This set is perfect for age three. It’s great for fine motor coordination (twisting the knob, moving the anchor, getting the vehicles’ wheels in the grooves on the tracks where they sit in the ferry, loading vehicles on and off) and for learning colors. This is going to get hours of play in our house. It’s well priced as it will last and, I imagine, be handed down to others once we are finished with it!

My two year old loved this for his birthday. It's a super simple toy but boys just love driving the cars onto the boat and off again. The toy is mostly made out of wood and includes 4 small vehicles: a car (red), a box truck (yellow), SUV (green), and camper (blue) and the double-decker boat.You can slide the plastic anchor to lower the ramp and slide down the life boy to move the elevator between decks. I wouldn't say this is for 'pre-schoolers' age 3-5 as stated in the item description. I'm pretty sure they would quickly be fed up by this. I would recommend for 18 months to 2.5 years old kids.
