An attractive combination of five varieties for growing on open ground and in greenhouses, which adds color and flavor to salads that you can enjoy throughout the season. Grows well from early spring to late autumn, sown every two weeks for abundant and uninterrupted harvest, except for particularly hot summer months.
The seeds can be planted in either the spring, the fall, or both. Sow the seeds 4 to 6 weeks before the typical date of last frost in the spring or 4 to 6 weeks before expected first frost in the fall. It is best to plant radish seeds directly in the garden so as not to disturb their roots. Directly sow seeds outdoors 0.5 to 1 inch deep and 1 inch apart. Choose a place that gets at least 6 hours of sun a day. Enough sun helps to get big fruits. Prepare a light, well drained soil with a pH of 5.8 to 6.8. Don’t sow all the seeds in one go, but every 7 to 10 days, while weather is still cool. Radishes do not tolerate the heat. Keep the soil moist to ensure rapid growth. Thin to 6 inches apart. Harvest when radish is young.
