This is now the second one which fried after about 2 years of use. The first one died the same way. Suddenly red light and the internal power circuit is fried. It is also super picky on power supply. If you have mini power cuts, it will reboot but won’t come back online if you don’t physically turn it off and back on while the rest of my network equipment continues to work. I have a UPS power backup upfront (good brand, APS) and even if it switches in 20ms after a power outage this is still enough to crash the modem and you’re out of luck. Hence if you are away and rely on accessing your network through VPN from long distance and you had a micro power outage on a UPS, well you have to wait until getting back home to manually reset it since a remote restart does not work.Netgear shall rebrand themselves into Netcrap

I upgraded my internet service and needed a modem that could handle the new capacity. I also wanted a device with enough down/up streams to handle multiple people working from home or schooling from home while having music or shows streaming. This modem does all of that when paired with a router than can handle the same. I have mine paired with a TP-LINK Archer C3150 router.I also didn't want to pay the price for a newer DOCSIS 3.1 modem since I don't have a 1Gig service plan. The reduced price of a renewed product was perfect. I was able to register the modem with Comcast/Xfinity with no issues. The modem has been working solidly for 10 months with zero issues. This is a great product for service plans with speeds up to 500Mbps with multiple simultaneous users.Modems and routers are devices that either work or don't work. A renewed product will function the same as a brand new one until it ceases to function. Modems are very basic and resilient devices. I'm an IT professional with years of experience.

Signed up to Spectrum 300 Mbps package, and it is feeding the house at 320 Mbps.Setup is as simple as plugging it in to the PC or via Wifi to Smartphone, and putting a password in.When it is linked to the LAN in the house, just call your internet provider tech over the phone, tell them the MAC address printed on the back. Within 3 minutes, it is up and running!Nothing more to it. It is on 24/7. It's consistent, and paired with a good router, it will provide internet at whatever speed your ISP can push into it.I bought the refurbished one for $68.99 (new MSRP is $95) and it has been flawless, not a scratch on the surface.

Works great, no issues. Although fair warning, the MAC address labeled on the outside of the unit was not correct for me so I had issues connecting the modem. Finally logged into the access 192.168....... to obtain the actually MAC address.
