However when we change wifi pword have to set up again and it takes forever! I called customer service yes they are willing to help and he said if they fix it i need to pay to my terms( one time, 6 months or a year!) if i will buy again definitely not this anymore!

It's super simple to set up. It does a great job of improving signal in my house. I consider it "portable"; if I want, I just unplug it, and move it to a different place in the house. After about a 2 min re-boot cycle, I'm good to go. supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Good speeds. I'm not a huge fan of the Netgear app, but it works OK. Recommended.

I am using this extender with an Eastlink cable router (Hitron CODA-4x8x DOCSIS) and, while I am satisfied with it, there were some setup issues.I have several smart WiFi devices which have taught me patience as these gadgets often take some time to “respond” as they need to exchange many queries, transactions and negotiations with other WiFi gadgets.I initially used the simple “press the WPA” button on the router method to connect, and it worked, though taking some time. I downloaded the Nighthawk App to my Android phone and it similarly worked, again, after some time - it identified the extender, alerted me of a firmware update and supervised its installation. The Nighthawk App was very useful for figuring out where best to place the extender. Not being one to leave well enough alone, I decided to check out the “Netgear Installation Assistant” with my Mac computer using Chrome. Fortunately, this utility has a “save configuration” and I have been burned enough over the decades to decide to save my configuration before doing anything else. After that, I fooled around with various options and managed to make the extender completely stop working. No problem, I figured - just do a Factory reset and start over. Well, it appears that the Factory reset does not quite reset everything. When I tried to repeat the “press the WPA” button on the router setup, it seemed to work, but my phone saw the router and extender networks as separate, even though both had the same WPS password and SSID, and when it connected to the extender it would say “connected, no internet”. The Nighthawk App did not like the passwords and the only reliable way to run the “Netgear Installation Assistant” was to connect the extender to the Mac with an ethernet cable. The Assistant seemed to work as expected except at the last window where it summarizes the setup, the “continue” button is never enabled, so the assistant does not close properly. Long story short, despite many Factory Resets and many permutations of setting up, the result was always the same - the extender ran a zombie network and the Android phone would connect and say “connected, no internet”.Then I remembered that I had saved the earlier configuration and so I once again ran “Netgear Installation Assistant” using an ethernet cable and I restored the extender from the earlier saved configuration and voilà - MAGIC! All started working again. Someday, when I am bored, I will try again to fool with the “Netgear Installation Assistant” to see if I can learn anything.Moral: if you get it working, run the “Netgear Installation Assistant” and save the configuration!I have a couple other comments. Over time, the extender becomes “stickier” in that if the phone switches from the router to connection with the extender, it is less likely to switch back - for me this is not a problem, just an observation. Also, the other night there was a power outage. My router is on a UPS, but the extender is not. After power came back, everything seemed to run just as expected, but I decided to use the Nighthawk App to check the status of the extender (again, not leaving well enough alone). This completely confused the Android phone - it would no longer connect to the router or the extender. I removed the Nighthawk App and re-installed it to no effect. So I rebooted the Android phone and all is well.It seems to me that there are some issues with the Factory Reset and both the Nighthawk App and “Netgear Installation Assistant”. I am sympathetic with the supplier - making a bullet proof extender that can connect with all versions of routers, phones that run the App and computers and browsers that run the “Netgear Installation Assistant” is likely a challenge. I do not have experience with other WiFi extenders, so cannot compare my experience with other manufacturers’ products. Had I stopped after the initial setup, I would have said that setup is trivially easy, as it was. But, if things go wrong, then the issues with Apps etc are manifest.

This is the best range booster I've owned. However after 48 hours the speed drops from 5g (200-300mb/s) to 20mb/s. Did everything and tech support said they don't know what to do. They asked me to return and get a new one. I did that and they same thing happend. Even if you search forums it happends to a lot of there products and no one has an answer. Its luck of the draw I guess. But it does work overall but at low speeds. For some its perfects and for some it doesn't work. I believe it's a compatibility issue with your modem.

Made a big improvement. My Bell modem/router is in the basement and my wife’s office is on the 2nd floor. Her zoom calls were choppy sometimes. Since installing, she has had consistent bandwidth for her calls. We have only connected her MacBook to this extended network so far, but the speed tests are around 40meg (on a 50meg service). When setting it up, I found it easier to disable the name matching feature for the wifi. With it on, it combines the extended and your direct Wi-Fi to the same name, so you don’t know which one your actually connected to unless you log in to see the connected devices. So try to name your extended one separately ie network_name_ext5G & network_name_ext2.4G, then you’ll know which network you are actually connected to.

We live in a duplex and are sharing our internet with the neighbors upstairs. They have the modem / router on their floor and were receiving significantly lower speeds on our floor (especially in my office). We considered subscribing to our own separate plan but figured we would give this a shot. The official speed we're supposed to get is 50mpbs download, although as is typical, we actually get about 40-45mpbs via Wi-Fi when standing right next to the modem. We were only getting about 10 mpbs download speed in most spots of our unit downstairs (about 3-7mbps in my office), but now we are also getting a stable 40-45mbps download speed everywhere on our level. The signal and speed also seemed to improve over a bit of time.Installation was fairly simple, although not the clearest. I had some red lights and blue arrows which resolved on their own without intervention. I have been extremely happy with the results. We'll be saving a lot of money now since we don't need to purchase a separate internet plan!Highly recommended.
