I have a problem with the Wi-Fi in our house; the router is in a second floor bedroom and the signal on the first floor is unreliable, leading to frequent lost connections to my laptop, phone and TV. I was hopeful that this extender would solve the problem even though a smaller unit I bought about five years ago did not. I think it is working. Setup did not work quite like the instructions said it should, things got held up at several points and the 5.8 GHz channel did not let me get to the point of entering my router password. Things went better on the 2.4 GHz channel and I now have a strong WiFi signal on the first floor on both channels. I am still confused about a few things, however. The Wi-Fi login is also not quite what I expected, I am logged into the router and not the ‘new Wi-Fi’ as the instructions suggest and it is no longer clear in my list of Wi-Fi options which is which since both there are ~duplicate names with minor difference in spelling in the list of Wi-Fi options, such as TP-Link_729C_5G and TP-Link_729C-5G. I am, however, giving this device a 5 star review because the signal strength is much higher on my laptop and phone and an app I use to check signal strength shows a 30 dB improvement.

I've been testing this wifi extender in various parts of the house to see where it'd be more beneficial and found that it puts out a pretty good strength of signal no matter where I've placed it. So far I've been able to run a couple of my 2.4Ghz security cams, my old Roomba & my new Narwhal vac after using this repeater and haven't had any issues so far. Overall for the price, I'm thinking of getting a second or third one to bridge the wifi in he house out to my workshop across the yard. Pretty pleased!

I've been struggling with the WiFi connection to my printer, which is at the opposite end of the house to my router so I was keen to give this WiFi range extender a go. Happy to report that it seems to have completely fixed the problem - my printer connected to the extender via WPS with no issues and I can now easily print wirelessly from my laptop or smartphone. The extender itself is compact - I've still got access to both plugs in the double socket I've used - and seems well made. For the purpose of using the wifi extender at its most basic, I found the instructions were adequate and I was able to have everything set up in about five minutes. I was also glad to see that the extender signal isn't interrupting the signal from my original router as I wasn't keen on transferring everything over to the extender immediately (maybe when I have more time). The instructions do state that you may sacrifice some speed in exchange for the signal boost but for browsing and streaming I've not seen a notable difference thus far.Beyond any of the basic settings, I'm at a loss - the instructions don't go beyond repeater mode, so if you're looking to use it for anything other than that, you'll need some tech knowledge of your own.

As someone who’s tested a lot of tech gadgets, I can confidently say this 1200 mbps dual-band wifi extender is one of the best I’ve used. My home has always struggled with dead zones, especially upstairs and in the backyard. Streaming anything in those areas was a nightmare—constant buffering, dropped connections, you name it. But this little device? It’s been a total lifesaver. I’ve dealt with some finicky gadgets in the past, but this one was surprisingly straightforward. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in under 10 minutes. I love how compact and unobtrusive it is—it just plugs into the wall and blends right in. The dual-band feature is a game-changer too. I’ve got all my smart home devices on the 2.4GHz band and my streaming and gaming on the 5.8GHz band, and it handles everything seamlessly. The range is seriously impressive. I can now stream 4K videos in the backyard without any buffering, which feels like a miracle. Even my neighbor joked that they might start using my WiFi because the signal reaches so far! The ethernet port is a nice bonus—I used it to hardwire my gaming console, and the connection has been rock solid with no lag. Now, if I had to nitpick, the LED lights are a bit too bright. I ended up putting a small piece of tape over them because they were like mini spotlights at night. But honestly, that’s such a minor issue compared to how well this thing works.Overall, I’m beyond impressed with this wifi extender. It’s affordable, easy to set up, and actually does what it promises. If you’re dealing with weak WiFi in certain areas of your home, this is definitely worth it. A quick tip: place it about halfway between your router and the dead zone for the best results.

Whatever the tech workers are using has affected my my wifi reception. The WiFi Extender has given me a wide and stable connection. I get smoother streaming. I've also picked up wifi in my bedroom. This is a great tool, I'm so impressed and thankful. It's easy to setup, just plug and play. It gives stable connection and broad coverage in all parts of your home. It also versatile in that it connects to all routers and devices.I highly recommend this product to anyone having issues with slow buffering and unequal speed distribution.

I just received this and the setup was very easy, the instructions weren't so clear but I have another one and they both used the same method, it took less than 5 minutes to have it up and running. I added it to a weak signal spot in my house and it worked perfectly, it also has an ethernet outlet, and a cable was provided, it can be used to provide wired connections as well. With 4 antennas, it offered a very strong signal in a spot where we were suffering to get a good connection in, I used it as an extender as it has two choices, to work as a booster (with a different Wifi key) or as an extender and it will use the same Wifi name.*** This product was received for free under Amazon Vine program

First Impressions:- I like the fact that it has the capability for both 2.4GHz & 5GHz bands for maximum support/speed.- The GUI is laid out very well- Can be set for extender, AP or router modes, which are all selectable via the GUIFirst Use:Setup in Repeater Mode but had difficulties as the repeating would only repeat over 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequencies and didn’t allow to extend both at the same time.Documentation wasn’t detailed enough. After repeater mode was properly setup and internet functional, I found internet access inconsistent. Speeds were good at over 150Mbps, but after a few mins of inactivity, I couldn’t rerun the speed test pages. After a reset of the connection, it started working again. The mode/router is in the basement and on the 2nd floor the signal is near non-existent, maybe 1 bar. After the extender was added halfway, I was able to bump up the signal strength to 3-4 bars. The speeds when from 5Mbps to approx. 45Mbps which was a great achievement. The LAN connector is only 100Mbps, which is significantly slower than the WiFi connection, so if the device is used as a wired extender or as a network adapter for a device, it will limit the speeds even though WiFi is capable of hitting a max of 1200Mbps. I do wish a gigabit port was used to maximize the uses of the adapter.Using the adapter in Access Point mode is where I experienced the slowdown. The device was wired to my network via a LAN cable to operate as an additional access point, but when I ran my speed tests, I was only able to get a peak of 90Mbps and couldn’t figure out why as I have 1Gbps internet, but it wasn’t until I remembered that the wired connection was only 100Mbps which explained the slowness. It takes up both plugs in a wall outlet, uses on and blocks the other. A change in the design could have put the power plug at the bottom so it would free up the 2nd outlet.Pros:- Supports 2.4GHz & 5GHz frequencies- At a peak 1200Mbps it shouldn’t cause any bottlenecks- Can be used in Extender, AP & Router modes- Quick connect via WPS, if you have it enabled- Can provide internet to a wired device via the LAN port on the side (if the adapter is set as an extender)Cons:- Does seem to extend both 2.4GHz & 5GHz networks at the same time, during the setup, you can only choose one of your wireless networks to connect to and extend- Included LAN port on the side is only 100Mbps, it’s a bit slow for current networks and causes a bottleneck- Documentation could have been better, more detailed- When plugged in, blocks the 2nd outlet. A slight design change so the plug is at the bottom part of the device would have eliminated this issue.Final Impression:Overall, the Newfast dual band network extender did a very good job. It allowed me to extend my network coverage to areas of the house by an additional 2 bars and from 5Mbps to 45Mbps. It can be simply plugged into any electrical outlet and you have improved network access (if setup as an extender). I do wish there were some design changes primarily with the LAN port as 100Mbit connection is a bit on the slow side these days and a faster 1Gbit port should have been used. The other gripe is with the power connector. Not sure why it was design with the connector in the middle of the device as this blocks the 2nd outlet no matter how you plug in the device. But besides these issues, I think it would help you get the extra coverage you need for better network/internet speeds. At the time of this review, the booster was priced at $29.99.
