[Material] Blade: High-grade cutlery steel, Handle: Carbon steel, Handle coating: Olefin. Okatsune is a company that develops and manufactures scissors with a factory in Hiroshima, Japan. Okatsune manufactures a number of pruning shears that are ideal for pruning plants and bonsai, and is highly regarded by users around the world. It features an easy-to-hold grip and a sharp blade. Okatsune's products are also used by many planting professionals and are very long-lasting gardening goods if they are well maintained. Okatsune is characterized by its long-lasting blade and sharpness that show its true value when used for a long time. The Okatsune series is a high quality gardening tool made possible by the finest steel materials and quenching technology. Okatsune's scissors do not use the forging method that is common in high-end products, but this creates the suppleness of the scissors' steel, and it bites into the trees well and has excellent sharpness. Okatsune's scissors are a tool that is often used by professionals, but they are sold at very affordable prices and are easy to use for a wide range of users, from beginners to experienced users. With any type of scissors, it is necessary to re-sharpen the blade when it becomes dull, but depending on the shape of the scissors and the hardness of the steel blade, it may be difficult to sharpen. However, Okatsune's scissors are not too hard steel and can be easily sharpened with a whetstone. One of the great things about Okatsune's products is that you can easily maintain them yourself when they become dull.

Well made, lighter than I expected and cut better than anything else I’ve owned. I think you pay for what you get. Quality secateurs.

I upgraded from a cheap Fiskars pruner and what a difference it made. Effortless and clean cut both on 1/8” green material and on 1” hard wood. Incredibly sharp. I was able to use the cutting blade as a knife, slicing off paper thin cross sections of branches. And that historic, legendary aspect of this tool, the fact that it’s made from the same steel as samurai swords just turns the simple process of pruning into an amazing experience. A pleasure to hold and a pleasure to use. Some reviewers here questioned the authenticity of this pruner. And I can understand why. Most professionals say this pruner is as good or better than a Felco, and in most countries it costs as much or more than a Felco. Naturally, if one sees this pruner sold on Amazon Canada at half the price of a Felco, it seems too good to be true. My recommendation to the seller is to double the price. I am a contractor who understands quality tools, and there is no doubt in my mind that this is a genuine item. Some reviews mentioned that the hand slides towards the blade and gets pinched. I can see how this can happen to someone with small hands. This tool is made specifically for people with large hands. It fits incredibly well in the palm of my hand and feels like a part of it. It stays solidly in place, like it was designed just for me as all the shapes and angles are just perfect. If you have smaller hands, get the 103 model.Lastly, the locking mechanism works really well. I just hit my thigh with it while squeezing the handles and it opens and closes effortlessly. The was no learning curve, I was able to do it with no difficulty first time I tried. One handed operation even with thick gloves which will come handy for winter pruning. It’s been a while since I enjoyed a hand tool this much. Can’t say enough good things about it.

For many years I have done yard work and have had many pruners including Felco and Corona.I have never had pruners that were as sharp and comfortable to use as these.I can't recommend these highly enough! When these wear out, I will buy again.I even bought the belt sheath because I am very committed to this excellent tool.

Just got it and it works wonderfully. It is super sharp and the mechanism seems extremely sturdy. But the test of time remains to be proven.

Very nice pruners for sure, with a very different feel than my old Felcos. No complaints. Keep them clean and they should last a lifetime with normal use. Watch out for the pointy tip. It's as sharp as people mention in other reviews.

When I received this pruner (model 104), I was a little concerned as I had been reading on the internet about customers receiving fake copies of Okatsune and Felco pruners. The packaging looked almost identical to the product pics on the Amazon website. The other difference I noticed was the stamp on the black part of the handle was not "Okatsune 104". In fact it was two kanji characters. And there was no "Made in Japan" stamped on the other side of the handle. I immediately contacted Amazon and asked them about this. I described the situation to the agent and he began a return process for me. I had printed out the return label and was preparing to send it back, but elected to do a bit more research. The pruner felt wonderful in my hands and although I could not tell the difference between good and bad steel I could tell that the build quality was very good. The latch system was metal (not plastic). The latch spring action was good and stiff and has three positions. It felt that it would last a life time. The blade cut through 1/2" green branches like butter. The only thing was that I did not hear a clicking sound that other Okatsune owners swear by, but my hearing isn't very good on the best of days. Then I found some videos on Youtube and those pruners also had the two kanji characters stamped on their handle. I took a closer look at the characters and they match the Japanese name of Okatsune which was printed on the cardboard packaging. I believe this was a Okatsune pruner that was meant for the Japanese domestic market and not International. This was evident by the Japanese writing on the back of the cardboard. The one for International has the English name and model stamped on one side and Made in Japan on the other. Whereas the one destined for the domestic market doesn't need "Made in Japan" as their Japanese customers already know this. So I cancelled the return process and ordered a 2nd pruner. The seller was Samurai Japan for both purchases. There are two criticisms I have. The product pictures did not match what was shipped to me. They should update their product pictures to accurately reflect what the customer will be receiving. I'm perfectly happy receiving the domestic version of this with the Japanese writing on the packaging. Secondly, there were a few scratches on the blade. I don't think it was due to it being used, but just in the manufacturing or mishandling in the factory. I would like to think the Japanese are a little more careful about that. There was a sheen of oil on the blades. I think they did this at the factory to prevent rust. The brown residue on the blades in the pictures is not rust, but from the sap when I cut the branches. I hadn't cleaned the blades after using them yet. Overall I'm happy to be an owner of two Okatsune pruners. The model 104 means the length of the pruner is 210mm. The 103 is 200mm. I think I have average sized hands and the 104 fit perfectly.

Ergonomia a mio parere migliorabile.
