Love this addition to my 2019 4-Runner! It “fixed” the throttle jolt I’d get going up/down hills which created a smoother ride overall!! That was enough for me! Previously, when my SUV downgraded, the truck jolted/jumped stp- the PC corrected that issue. It does Not improve or alter MPG, but correcting the throttle was a big change for me and I Love it!!

I purchased this "PEDAL COMMANDER for Toyota 4Runner (2010 and Newer)..." for my 2021 Venture onMar 19, 2021 for 250 bucks - from this seller. I waited over a year to leave my feedback. I wanted to wait and see if any of the BS complaints made by other buyers, proved out. It's now August 14th, 2023. I've never had -any- of the issues other 4R owners have claimed they've had with the Pedal Commander. I didn't need to return or exchange my unit at any point. I set it to "City + 2" and haven't touched it since. I'm a woman who's heavy on the gas, so that's on me, not the unit. My problem? Every green light is an opportunity to show the non-aware-non-participants that my brick 'has a pair.' LOLI've used the Pedal Commander while in 4WD. I've taken my 4R off road. I've taken my 4R mudding. I never swapped the plug out for oem, or changed the city +2 setting for any reason. I simply haven't had any issues with the P.Commander. No limp mode. No loss of power. None of the other issues other people have mentioned. I paid for the unit out of pocket and I gain nothing by leaving this feedback.Edit: As of 1/29/24 - No issues to report. Still use it off road. And still loving it!This unit is a throttle response control system. It doesn't mess with the transmission. It doesn't "add" horsepower. Although it feels like it. It's not going to add towing power. The P.Commander simply communicates with the vehicle that allows -you- to control your vehicle's gas pedal response time and throttle. So I'll say it again. I enjoy this unit. It makes my truck a lot more fun to drive. The P.Commander has not caused any issues with, for, or to my truck. I've had no reason to remove the unit that I purchased over 16 months ago. I've had no reason to replace it. It works as the day I purchased it.Yes, my vehicle has been featured in various vendor ads. Such as Morimoto or Xenon Depot. But I have never been prized, compensated or awarded for the privilege.

This device is just incredible! It feels like I got a new, more powerful engine. Throttle lag is completely gone even just in City mode...I haven't even tried the Sport or Sport+ modes yet because City mode is so much better than without the Pedal Commander. Installation was supposed to be plug and play but I had to take it to a auto shop to have it installed because I couldn't get the stock plug out. Other than that this product is just amazing and it's made me love my truck even more! Thank you for this amazing product!

Good product. Does what I expected, makes drive a lot more fun, though it does not add horsepower, but it feels like that

There’s nothing to dislike about this product! For what you pay you will feel the power increase ,the response , I will say all the way turned up you have to be careful! It makes the vehicle very aggressive like it’s ready to eat the vehicle in front of you! I run mine on city mode turned up all the way ! It has four settings Ecco, city, sport 1, sport 2 . Each can be turned up 4+&down4- and they don’t over lap they just kinda almost meet like sport 1 +4 is 1 less than sport2 -4 ! If your ready for throttle response get this & fell up with 94 octane throw a fuel injection cleaner+octane boost . As Tommy Chong told Chechen Martin on up in smoke “kinda grabs you by the boo boo doesn’t it” ! It will definitely sink you up in the seat ! So don’t crank it up wide open at first put in on sport 1 and just drive it rite there for a little bit then turn it up +4 if you like that then just turn it to sport 2 ! Just straight 2 no + an see how big of a difference it makes if you like that then push it up +4 that’s wide open barely touching the pedal will jerk you yeah it is wicked! I have a lift on a v6 that stock would spin the tires on dry road not crazy bad . But with 33x12.50 mud tires it will sqweel like a pig and easy real easy ! If you get one learn how to use it an were to have it turned up . You won’t wanna be burning rubber in the city around the cops . Then the road conditions you might not wanna be all the way up on wet roads with curves or with snow and frozen roads . I wanna see how it does in the woods in 4wheel drive an low range . Probably have to be careful not to rip a axle or driveshaft out . It’s serious business if you want a good bit extra and wanna be in full control of just how much power your gonna get then I’d recommend this over anything I’ve did for performance this has the biggest bang for the buck now most other things we’re under 100$ each this on sale was around three hundred and a half . I’ll say well worth it I haven’t ever spent that amount and got the gains I have with the pedal commander ! Tired of sluggish pullouts tired of its all this ol hoopty will do to barely keep up or god this thing is sick you better get a tune up . We’ll get you a pedal commander it will be like damn bro you just blowed them away this thing is mean man ! That’s right it will make your ride literally chomping at the bit and breaking the chain on full out survival mode and on a mission to peal the asphalt up behind it . You will be blown away you will think I never in my life thought this thing could run like that . It’s like a totally different vehicle!

2008 4Runner Limited 4WD 4.7L V8. Blisten 5100s, 33s, lifted, LEDs all around...missing something. Then came along pedal commander. Totally Wow! A night and day transformational difference! This device ups the 4.7 V8 to it's full potential, no kidding. Device doesn't add additional horse power but definitely feels like there's more horses under the hood! Best mod before anything else! Got it on Black Friday for $239. Set it and forget it on city +4. 4runner seems to want to sprout wings and fly off to the moon. Thankfully I got another one for our 2007 Sequoia too...same settings. Installation was a breeze, simple plug and play 15 minutes. Both vehicles feels lighter and more responsive now.

This is great for increasing throttle response but not so much for peak power or torque. The factory throttle tuning is terrible with Toyota's, I have no clue why Toyota tuned them this way. I find that I always had to floor it to get the car to downshift when merging or towing. now just 1/4 pedal downshifts a gear and gives better throttle opening. I'm able to merge smoothly, finally! My wife also loves the change and she prefers city 0, I personally do sport -1 for mostly highway. Now that the car is more responsive, I find I'm flooring it a lot less when passing or merging so I'm saving on gas. I just wish this thing hooked up to OBD2 instead and was also able to flash the ECU for more power (advance ignition timing and lean out fueling) with higher octane gas. I feel for $400 it's a bit steep but I would do it again since the car feels so different.

If there is one upgrade / mod you're going to do to your 4Runner it's this one. Instant throttle response. The factory 4runner drive by wire response is so bard. The very first setting of City 0 will work for most people. I like to use City +1 on the city roads and City +2 and maybe Sport 0 for the highway.I'm pretty mechanically inclined but this was so easy to install. No tools required. Everything you need is included. (zip ties, alcohol wipe, and double sided tape)The hardest part was waiting the 5-10mins of no key out of the car and keeping the door open before I could plug it in. What I did while waiting was fishing the main wire under the dash and mounting the controller. When the time came to plug it in, the 5-10mins was up anyway.BTW why is "Thickness" a feature to rate on?

Wow, this little thing really woke up my 4runner. I’ve had my eye on it for a while and finally pulled the trigger. Damn am I ever happy I did. Currently on a 2020 ORP with a 2.5” lift on the front and 1.5” on the back with 285’s and this thing really helps it get going off the line. Tried most of the city mode and into sport. After about sport 4 the vehicles power can’t keep up with the commander but it is definitely very snappy off the line. Feel comfortable for fun daily driving at about city +4 to5 and that’s all I needed. Highly recommended just like everyone else who’s purchased it, it truly does change how the vehicle drives. The Bluetooth connection is fine but it would be a whole lot cooler if it would show up in my apple CarPlay so I could change it on the heads up display...but not a dealbreaker. Probably not the best idea to always be changing it anyways. Happy with city +4 ...maybe flip into sport 5 when a Jeep wants to race.**update you’re going to want to go to the lowest mode when offroading. Or using the multi terrain select/4lo / locker, had a few times I was confused why I was having issues keeping steadiness going through some rock gardens. Turned all the way down and control is almost better than without it, provides very slow steady throttle response for big obstacles ... love this thing.

Worth the money, if you have the extra cash laying around I highly recommend it. I had a G63 see me blow bast him. Dude was mad confused ahhahahah. He was I didn't know a 4runner had it. I still haven't added the new cold air intake by AFE which adds 30 more horse power and want to add supper charger in the future. This car is going to be a beast

I was highly skeptical of this product when I first started my research on it. I recently upgraded to a 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium from my previous 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja. I outfitted my Baja with a K&N CAI, Jet Performance MAF sensor, throttle body spacer, and a Unichip ECM tuning computer. The truck already had an upgraded cat back on it. I performed all those upgrades simultaneously resulting in no clear definition of which upgrade provided specific results. With my 4Runner, equipped with the same engine from my Tacoma, I knew a different approach would be more financially efficient. The Pedal Commander was the first upgrade I installed, and what a freaking difference. The other reviews detailing the vehicle felt like a completely different car is 100% accurate. It’s crazy how this simple installation produces such prodigious results.Word of caution, there are a variety of settings available with this unit, upon installation start at the lowest setting on a test drive. On the test drive incrementally increase to a comfortable desired setting. DO NOT START ON THE HIGHEST SETTING FIRST. I’m serious when I state the noticeable change is clearly definable and this unit offer powerful changes. I am currently at Sport -1. I’m comfortable there, and never surpassed Sport 0 mode on my test drive. The sensitivity results in the pedal I feel would make it more cumbersome than I desired to go above my current setting.Understand there is no actual horsepower increase with this product, but the dramatic engine response time increase will certainly make you believe there has been.I’ve now added a TRD CAI, throttle body spacer, and Jet Performance MAF sensor to complete my engine upgrades. By far the most impactful has been the Pedal Commander. As far as fuel economy, I wasn’t adding this product for economic fuel increases. I’m certain under the Eco setting one could obtain quantifiable results. I monitored my fuel economy after initial instillation and have produced similar results to preinstallation which was 17.9 mpg combined. This result might also be caused from my over zealous foot on the gas due the awesome results of this gizmo.Bottom line, if you have a Toyota 4Runner, this product is a must. The 4.0 utilized in this vehicle is a pure mule - that’s a compliment. This engine will excel off road. It will prevail under arduous conditions. It will haul your stuff. It’s reliable as all get out. It’s time tested and has proven itself as a leader in the market. The one draw back is it’s sluggish road response and lackadaisical speed gain. Mules never win the sprint race, but pure breed race horses are never loaded with 3x’s their own weight to trudge up a mountain. Adding this product to your 4Runner changes all that. The car becomes an absolute joy to drive. Go into this purchase knowing that you purchased a 4Runner and it’ll never lead the sports car pack. Purchasing this Pedal Commander ensures that you can at least run with the pack.I never leave such lengthy reviews, but I highly depended on other’s reviews during my purchase decision, so I felt obligated to do my part.Confirming also this product will work in application on a 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium.
