The need to have the diameter of the mounting head close to actual size is essential to accuracy, but the diameter of this mount was about as close to the size of the shaft as you can get. It would not go on. Since I use digital micrometers to measure my work I measured shaft size to the machined mounting socket size. They were with in .000005" to .00001" (closer to .05 thousandth to .1 thousandth ) of each other. It took me several hours to use steel wool to bring the sizes to be closer to .0001". So close that if I released the mounting head quickly it would push back more than 1/4" inch. It was nearly air tight. Because of this I do believe that a high number of individuals buying this would believe it was bored a wrong size and send it back. I would recommend that you include some super fine sandpaper of steel wool to aid initial buyers to be able to put it on. Other than this I am thrilled to have such a truly fine head on a lathe to be able to accurately mount it and be almost perfect in all the work I will do with it.
