My wife had me order the birds. Unlike other watering devices we have used in the past, the water drains out in a few hours. Not recommended for the intended purpose. Cute and colorful.

I have ordered these small watering spikes many times and soon most of my plants will have one. It is easy to see when the plant needs water and they prevent me from over watering. My wish is that they came in a bigger size and that the capacity was published (eg. 60 ml. etc.) I love the bright colors and that the open mouth of the bird makes refilling so easy. They are plastic with white ceramic spikes. Every now and then I need to wash them out with soap to remove any algae that has grown in them. You can use multiples in a large pot or if you will be away for longer than 2 weeks. Very happy with them.Since receiving my last set, I did notice that some were releasing the water faster than they should. We put some thermal tape around the neck of the bird, taking the spike off to do this and then adding it back on. It works great as it expands when it is wet and stops the over-watering. Still happy with this purchase.
