It hasn't been two years. Bought in Canada and now live in Switzerland. It was great when it worked but during the last months the device would just not pair. So frustrating when I put it in only to realize it was tracking nothing at the end of the workout.Been given the runaround for warranty. Should be more straightforward for a company like POLAR. Tried unpairing pairing, battery change, forget device, redownloading app, factory reset, gps location is on. Nothing works and have invested too much time trying to troubleshoot. Won't be considering any more of your products.

The Polar H10 was easy to fasten to my chest and stayed there. I used a small amount of electrode gel rather than water so the connection was excellent with little “noise” when I connected to the ELITE HRV app which has an array of useful readings and training information. HR and HRV data appears accurate when compared to other medical grade devices. If accuracy while in motion is important, this is a very good product. However, I would caution a buyer to read the size of the strap to make sure that it will fit properly. I am 6’1” and about 200, the strap fit well but I can see that this M-XXL size strap may not fit larger users with chests more than 50”. The choice of App is also important. The Elite HRV app came to my attention as there was a connection with Mindfulness practices as well as exercise. I have not explored other Apps yet, but I am pleased so far.

Bought this to replace a crappy Garmin chest strap. So far this thing beats it every single way possible. I'll give a little bit of a comparison below as to how it stacks up to the Garmin HRM dual. The strap.I'm a big boy at 275 pounds so I bought the larger strap to go with the unit. The garmin strap was trash. Too thin and soft and so it just rolled up with movement. The Polar strap is a little firmer though so it can better stay flat without rolling up. This is huge when it comes to comfort as when the strap rolls up it will dig into your skin a little more. The Polar strap I could probably wear all day long without issue. The unit itself - Big win for Polar. The Garmin unit at first wouldn't detect my heart rate. Tried all the tricks from submerging it in water, licking the pads, getting all sweaty and then trying it. Nothing. Only way I was able to get it to work was buying conductive gel and using that on the pads. Next problem was once I started working out I had about 20-30 minutes before it quit working. What sucks is you wouldn't know it though as it doesn't display 0. Instead, it just keeps displaying the same heart rate that it was able to detect. This kind of sucks though as your heart rate could be very different, but you would never know.what makes it even worse is once the unit quits working, that's it for the next couple hours. It WILL NOT WORK no matter what you do. Dry the strap out, clean the strap and pads, apply more gel, apply less gel, dunk the strap, dry it out again. NOTHING!Had this happen during Full Frontal 4DP test by The Sufferfest by Wahoo. Figured it was just a fluke and I'll try again. Once again half way through the test it just quits and will not work for the next couple hours. That's a pretty crappy deal to get half way through that test and then just have the heart rate quit working invalidating the whole test.Figured ok maybe it's just too much. maybe I'm sweating too much, maybe my heart rate is going wonky. Who knows. Lets just do a normal training run instead that's hopefully not quite as intensive. Again 20-30 minutes in it would just quit. This happened EVERY SINGLE TIME for any type of ride I did. This is kind of worthless. You get through any warm up, and just starting on the actual workout at which point the unit bricks itself and won't work for the next couple hours. The Polar unit on the other hand worked right from the start. I have never used the conductive gel with unit. Hell I don't even have to wet the strap down or anything. I just put it on and start riding.Don't think I have had it actually drop out during an exercise. I have tested it though to see what would happen if it does quit detecting my heart rate by lifting up one side of the pads of my chest. This is another huge win in that if it does quit detecting your heart rate this will show 0. Very much unlike the garmin still displaying the last heart rate detected which is incorrect. Even if that heart rate was from 10 minutes ago.The polar unit also has the ability to be used through third party apps to detect your heart rate variability and such. You can even download apps so you can actually see the electrical signal from your heart if you really wanted to though I have no way to confirm how accurate that is. It's just the fact that Polar opens this up for use like that unlike the garmin is a huge win.Overall I wouldn't bother with the Garmin unit. If you are unsure which to buy, just guy the polar H10. Much better unit over all in every way.

Very easy to set up and use with the polar app. Accurate and instant heart rate display. The chest strap is based on band size for us girls (rather than bust size), but is adjustable.

I own a used commercial Precorp treadmill, found out they only sync with Polar heart rate monitors. There are workouts that react to your heart rate, available on my treadmill, and I was itching to try them out. When I first received the Polar H10 I was frustrated, to be honest. Historically the grips meant to pick up a heart rate on a treadmill are useless or inaccurate for me. At times they pick up nothing whatsoever. When they do pick up they're rarely accurate. I had higher hopes for this, but when it arrived I was having similar issues, to a lesser extent. It was 20bpm off at times, and would cut out altogether from time to time too. The thing is that if I ran a wet washcloth underneath it, it would typically come back and/or be accurate again for a bit. When my hands are wet (from a wash cloth) the hand grips will also work for me. I have dry skin, and I don't sweat much in my chest or hands. I mostly sweat in my underarms and back. So I bought some conductive gel https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06VWSS7KJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as a last ditch effort before returning this. Problem solved!!! I ran for a full hour and the chest strap didn't cut out once, and it was accurate the whole way!! So... if you're having conductivity issues - get the gel. It made this 1 star a 4 star. What, you might ask, am I still taking a point off for? Well, I take a half point off them not mentioning that you might need the gel. I take the other half point off because I cannot find replacement straps for this model. It's not an issue now, but they themselves say on the package that the chest strap will wear out over time. That being the case I need to be able to buy another strap... so they need to make replacement straps for this model available - ideally around $10. I don't want to buy another monitor because the strap wears out. In addition I want my daughter to be able to use it too. They only make two size chest straps, neither of which will work for kids, so I currently have to use big, office binder clips to set it up for her. They really should offer more strap options. Maybe they have it - if so they don't make it easy to find. I have found replacement straps for previous models, so perhaps it's on the way. At any rate, I take a half point for each of these.Overall - worth it anyway

UPDATE after one year: Over time, the unit started to eat through batteries MUCH faster. No idea why. As an experiment, I tried removing the battery after each use, and this solved the problem. So from now on, I just pop out the battery when I'm done, which isn't too inconvenient. You can always check the battery level in Settings, within the app. Overall, after one year, I am still very pleased with the unit. What I use this for - I’m a rower. I primarily use this with my Concept 2 rowing machine, and it connected right away with the PM5 on my machine. It also works flawlessly with Concept2’s app for this, called ErgData, which records your workouts on your phone and then uploads them to the Concept2 Logbook online. The “Polar Beat” App, and website profile - To use this HR monitor, you’ll need to download Polar’s “Polar Beat” app, and create an account which will automatically sync your workouts to your account which you can see in more detail on the website. I have an Android, I’ve had no issues with the app, and I think the overall layout is clear, user-friendly, and not too bulky. I’ve also had no connectivity issues, and RARELY ever have a loss of connection or hiccup in any readings. However, I would not trust any data related to distance or pace. As seen in my screenshot, my phone interpreted my straight path down a street as totally zig-zagged. The distance and pace is not accurate as a result. But I’m assuming this is my phone’s GPS which is wrong, and probably(?) not the app. Luckily, I am not a runner so I personally don’t care about this issue, but just pointing out that it may be an issue for some.Regarding accuracy: The accuracy of calories burned and heart rate training zones is not only based on HR, but if you know your Vo2 max and anaerobic threshold, you can input these, as well as other data, into your profile via the website to increase the overall accuracy (as seen in my screen shot). Also on the website you can analyze your individual workouts in more detail, and see a handy calendar view of them.Strap sizing - I have a 34” chest circumference. The M-XXL, when loosened to its maximum *un-stretched* length, is 35” long. When stretched, this extends to 45” or so. So if unless your chest is larger than 45”, you should be fine with the M-XXL. Also, the "turquoise" is totally BLUE in color, not aqua or greenish at all. :pPersonal use and opinions -This HR monitor has quickly and completely taken my health and fitness to another level. I seriously regret not having purchased one sooner!I’m a high-intensity kinda person when it comes to exercise. I got hooked on HIIT once I tried it years ago. I never, ever used to bother with endurance stuff (long sessions with LOW heart rates), until I got this HR monitor, and I was advised that I needed to do more endurance work to increase my baseline aerobic fitness. It took a LOT of patience for me to slow down, and actually keep my HR between 130-140. Turns out I had truly never worked out at such low intensity. Despite thinking this low intensity stuff was useless, I stuck with it, and I was flabbergasted at the results. Within just a week of beginning long, steady state daily rows (45m-1hr):-my resting HR dropped by about 5 beats.-my blood pressure dropped to completely normal levels (I’m 35 with an excellent bill of health, but doctors could never understand why I had BP readings that were always high. Apparently, I just needed a little more aerobic fitness!)-and this was totally unexpected: my mental stress levels decreased dramatically. I suddenly had more patience during the day, and even better appetite control. It felt like I was taking a chill pill. And this was just after ONE week. After a month: Aside from feeling a noticeable improvement in quality of life… My pace in rowing (at the same HR) has already improved a lot since I began, which is direct proof of an improving cardiovascular fitness. Further: I recently completed a really tough hike which I hadn’t done in about 7 years. Result: it was a LOT easier this time because my HR drops much more quickly now, so I felt almost *instantly* rested as soon as the elevation would level out. Without the use of a HR monitor to control my workouts in order to properly build this baseline aerobic fitness, NONE of this would have been possible!(And by the way, the Polar Beat app recorded that entire 4 hour hike flawlessly, as my phone was tucked away in my jacket pocket with the screen off and locked, and I never had to fool with it or double-check it).Look, just buy this. Whether you’re experienced or a beginner, don’t ever, ever trust your “perceived exertion.” It is NO substitute for actual data. I wasted SO many years doing that, and robbed myself of a higher level of fitness!! To achieve fitness, you need a combo of high AND low intensity, not just one or the other. And to do this, you need a HR monitor. It’s SO simple: choose your workout and just stay in your zones! :)Hope this helps!!

I am so bummed that I didn’t see the other reviews about connectivity before I bought this. I unboxed it yesterday, excited to use it for my at home workouts since I didn’t feel like my Apple Watch was very accurate. However I spent about 30 minutes trying to connect it. Apparently the sensors have to be wet to connect so they tell you to run it under the faucet before putting it on. Ew. I read tons of FAQ’s and it connected for less than a minute then it dropped the connection. I thought it needs sweat, so I went for a walk outside, sweat, and it still couldn’t read my heart rate. I literally was reaching my hand up my shirt spreading my sweat all over the strap and occasionally it would say my HR was 64bpm, while my Apple Watch said 90 something. So I returned home, spent another 15 minutes watching YouTube videos and reading more FAQ’s. Tried everything. Still won’t connect. This morning I put it on, excited to use for my F45 workout, and it said it’s connected to another app. What?! I couldn’t even get it to connect to it’s own app, let alone another app. It shouldn’t be this dang hard to connect a device. I have an F45 heart rate monitor (that only works in their gym), and a treadmill HR monitor (that only works on my treadmill). I have zero connectivity issues with those two devices, they just don’t work outside of those environments. But I know how a HR monitor SHOULD connect and work. This one is complete crap.UPDATE: After sweating my backside off with this HRM on, and it not working, I posted the review above. Then I decided to give it one last shot before starting a return...I was soaked with sweat, I removed the device from the Polar app one final time, went into my phone settings and deleted the Bluetooth connection. Then I opened the Polar Beat app, and synced the device again. Ironically, it worked like it’s supposed to. I had done this many times before but I wasn’t drenched in sweat. Initially I worried that I’d have to be soaked for it to work the next day, but I didn’t. Suddenly everything connected, and I’ve had zero connection issues since.I did reach out to the company with my issues in the beginning, and I never heard back. So my advice, if you’re having this issue as well, is to tighten your strap, place the tap water soaked HRM strap under your sports bra, delete ALL previous Bluetooth connections (especially in your phone Bluetooth settings) and try again. It’s a pain in the butt in the beginning, but it works for me now.It also reports my HR to my Sole treadmill, but the treadmill does not report back mileage or anything. So I have to manually enter the mileage into the Polar app. And when I record a workout with the Polar Beat app, it doesn’t accurately transfer the manually entered mileage to the Apple Watch/Heart app. It’s not a perfect system, but the HRM appears to be accurate. I just wish their app was better and it would communicate with other apps better. Supposedly all of my workout apps (and treadmill) work with the Garmin app, so I’ve ordered a Garmin HRM to see if that works any better. But I did discover this morning that the Polar H10 integrates into Runkeeper pretty well! I might end up keeping this just for that alone!
