Product Description

Brewing America

Company Info: Owned and operated by U.S. Veterans. We have been certified by the VA as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. We are a husband-wife team and served in the Army and Marine Corps, respectively. We love America and we love homebrewing.

Our “why”: We are homebrewers and this business was born out of our simple desire to replace our broken gear with higher quality options. We live in the Blue Mountains (hence our mountain logo). We are hours away from our nearest LHBS (Local Homebrew Shop), so Amazon is our best option for replacement gear. But the options for homebrewing equipment seemed lackluster and low quality. So we decided to create our own and Brewing America was born in 2017.

Product Development: Quality and Performance. Brewing America is constantly looking at how we can bring the best homebrewing products to the masses. Our main focus is on hydrometer testing kits. We have a variety of hydrometers for homebrewers and distillers and they can be bought as kits with our super-awesome glass test jar and stainless steel brush. We designed our borosilicate 3.3 glass test cylinder to solve the pain points we were having with using so much brew to take a test. We knew a 1-piece borosilicate glass tube was needed for quality of the product, scratch resistance and sanitation, product strength for distillers and a potentially wide range of sudden temperature changes.

Customer-Centric Focus: We love helping others succeed in the hobby we love and we love to hear what you want and what you love about our products. We are glad to listen and help you wherever we can....so your next batch can be your best yet!

I have no way of knowing if it is accurate, so let's assume it's perfectStrongly recommend you have a narrow tube tall enough to allow it to sink to 1.0000. We use it for beer and mead and my 100 ml graduated cylinder was too shallow so I bought a plastic 200 ml one from our local brew store for about $4. Nothing worse than being ready to bottle and you can't get a final SG reading because your hydrometer is hitting bottom. Lol

Precision scale, easily readable, appears well-made.

I bought this hydrometer after getting frustrated with the readings my existing budget hydrometer was giving me, which I knew could not be accurate. The readings of this hydrometer were spot on with the expectations I had based on the mash I was making.I would recommend spending the extra money and getting this hydrometer than wasting your time and money on a cheap Chinese one.

Bought this and found that the wieghts is to have. Constantly sinks giving inaccurate readings. Use my friends to check, (he has the same one) and his worked.

Easy to read with expanded scale, but is too tall for most hydrometer beakers. perfectly accurate to an old hydrometer that i have been using for years. wish it was calibrated to 68 or 70f rather than 60f. It seems the standard is calibrated to 60f, but most fluids (beer, wine, etc.) is room temp, so then you have to do a temp correction. My old one is calibrated to 68f...much better.

Mine only has a single scale and doesn’t seem to have a built in temperature gauge. As far accuracy goes I haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully it’s good as I feel a bit ripped off to be honest.

Love this hydrometer. Well made, accurate, and easy to read. So much better than the triple scale hydrometers. I hope this one last me for many years.

We JUST got started in the world of fermenting, so I have no idea is this is an extra special hydrometer, or an over-priced one. I can tell you that it's a solid build, but really large and didn't fit in the flask that came with out kit, so if this is your first time, I suggest getting the combo kit.I read built-in thermometer and looked it up and saw several products with actual thermometers built-in, so I was very confused when I got a basic paper-in-tube hydrometer. It's marked exactly like every single other hydrometer online, nothing about the temperature reading is a "built-in" function that should be highlighted as extra special. I have no idea how to get a temperature reading from this. Or am I getting it, but I have to change my density reading as a result? The instructions are terrible and assume you already know what you're doing.

This hydrometer is quite accurate, test it with distilled water first and you'll see!It has a built in thermometer which I find quite helpful. I wish it was cheaper though, it's definitely quite expensive.

...And this is going to be a lot more accurate than me tasting everything and guessing. But I'm going to keep tasting everything anyway. Well made and clearly marked, this tool is going to help me achieve a more consistent product in my home brew cider. I'm a little paranoid I'm going to break it, but it does seem sturdy enough.
