It's virtually silent. Install was not as straight forward as the video shows, since it's quite a bit higher than the basic standard check valves most people have. you may need to cut a bit of pipe off, which I did with a standard hacksaw and being careful. but other than that it seems to work great. time will tell for longevity.

Had a plumber install a sewage pit ejector for a basement bathroom install as I am on septic and he installed a cheap one and when the pump kicked on it would pump the water up out of the pit but when it shut off the water in the pipe would slam back down on the flapper causing loud noise. Installed this and no more banging noise or pipe banging. I bought one of a different brand for my sump pump for the same reason.

I could not believe how simply replacing the old check valve completely eliminated the water hammer noise from my ejector pump. The PumpSpy is not only silent, but the see through body allows me to verify correct functioning.

This is an excellent upgrade to basic check valves. It is almost entirely silent and prevents the loud thunk you get with regular or simple check valves. It's a premium high quality product that seems very durable for long term use. Installation was incredibly easy and simple with everything you might need.

My previous purchase, which was a regular one and not see through , costed around 25$ and water was leaking in the middle when water was being pumped out, so I tried to tighten the bolts on all four sides, they were cheaply made and broke right away. This one doesn't need tightening with bolts on 4 sides in the middle, only needs tightening around the pipes. The material is very sturdy, super easy to install and the see through is just amazing. 5/5 would recommend.

Ordered the wrong one, explained it to Support they sent the correct one with instr. to return the first one. Installed the valve with no issues, AND IT’S SOOO QUIET!! The contractor-installed one that was in the house for 20 years clunked every time the sewage pump went off. Now, although it’s working properly, we have to check it every once in a while to see if it’s still working, because it’s so quiet. Thank you.

As the other comments have said, this has completely resolved the loud water hammer issue I was getting with the existing 6 month old check valve. At first I had plans to enclose the sump pit area in a soundproof room to try and dampen the banging after each sump pump cycle. I did some last ditch Google search and found that there is such a thing as a quiet check valve. The price was reasonable and it was worth a try. This quiet check valve doesn’t just dampen the sound, it completely eliminates it. Don’t hesitate buying this if you were like a lot of us and getting really annoyed when your sump pump startles you with a “bang”. I will be recommending these and installing them on future projects.

For the low price, I am overall happy I found this product. Prior to installing this, our softener would wake me up at night when it was running a cycle - with a loud bang. This makes it completely silent. It is amazing how good it works. It lasted 2 years and 3 months after installing (product has a 2 year warranty). But for $25-$30 , well worth having! What happened is that the Valve Body broke, causing water to leak. The Valve Body is two pieces that should have been glued together all around, but instead, only half of it was glued. The unglued half started leaking. There is only 1/8" of overlap joining the two pieces, and this is not enough to withstand the pressure of the kind of installation I have. 1/8" is not much holding these two pieces together. I had it supported on one side, or it would have blown apart. As it is, the pressure inside that caused the unglued half to come apart even broke the edge on that half (1st photo). If these are all built the same, make sure you put a thrust block against the cap so the cap doesn't blow off the end. I had the block on it, so there was only a leak, and thankfully the entire utility area was not flooded. It definitely makes it very quiet, so that is good. Would be good if the two pieces were joined together more securely, considering the back pressure from a 2" pipe and the hammering from the water that it needs to stand up to. Will need to be replaced every couple of years, for sure. Noise reduction is excellent, though.

Had I known that "quiet" check valves existed before now, I would have gone this route. I can't believe the difference this thing makes... no more loud "bang" when the pump finishes emptying the basement poo pit. With our bedroom right over the basement pit area, we were kept well aware of the presence of house guests staying in the basement bedroom. It was very easy to install; the only challenge was undoing the 25-year-old compression fittings on the old check valve (2 pipe wrenches did the trick).

We have lived with loud sump pump and water hammer for almost three years. When installing a backup for my groundwater system I decided to put this on our sewage pump. We have a teenager downstairs and our sewage pump goes off frequently. It is right under our master bedroom and it thuds through the entire house several times a day. When I put this on I noticed an immediate difference with no water hammer. Honestly when your not right in front of it you can barely tell the sump pump is running. The see through is kind of cool as well. It works.Installation was easy. I just removed the old compression check valve system and put this in. There was no pipe cutting involved with ours, but if you do the way this one is built makes it easy to put on each end of the pipe.So far we have had no issues and as said it is quiet. That is what we were after.
