I bought this piano to learn worship with, and I know it's also got a lot of features that I will use eventually. Basically I future proofed to prevent upgrade-itis.I'm using it to play worship songs, I like being able to layer the sounds and change the volume of layers, and it's nice being able to save all these settings too to different profiles(banks). I like the texture of the keys over the gloss, and it's got a nice weighted feel to them.I was at guitar center today looking at some other things, and this is a few months after my purchase of the casio, and I was trying some different keyboards like the Yamaha, and I'm still very glad I made this purchase and my mind hasn't changed on it.

The most important thing to the audience and me is a great piano sound. Check. It's a GREAT piano sound. No strangely sampled notes, no detectable velocity switches, no harsh fff sample spike. This piano sustains, and when I dig into it, it roars like my Yamaha grand G4. Everything sounds good in headphones, but you can't give the audience headphones--it has to sound good in mono, and this thing sounds fabulous in mono! It's the lightest weight of all the weighted keyboards, and the weighted keys just feel right. They actually feel great, and I'm inspired playing it. On top of the top notch piano sample are great non-piano sounds and lots of them. The speakers are incredibly crisp and accurate and plenty loud. This thing can RUN ON BATTERIES, people! I can literally take and use a 25 pound piano ANYWHERE. The only negative (and for a constant fiddler like me, actually a plus) is that the interface, while comprehensive, takes some button pushes and time spent with the instructional video, but once you get the hang of it, it works fine (much better than it's little brother, the PX-S1100). And to top it off, the folks at my church where I play each week tell me they love the sound of it. Bam.

Such loud (recorded in the sample) mechanical hammer noise on upper keys, looks like they sample it from the inside of a grand piano, close to the hammers. It really bothers me when practicing scales.I miss physical buttons, because sometimes my fingers get dry and then touch doesn't work well for me.Keys feel good, but a bit plastic. The keyboard is narrow but the sheet music holder will need a lot of room, so, against a wall, the piano will end up far from the wall anyways.Even though all the cons, I am enjoying learning piano. For this exact price range, I don't know any other better.

How did Casio achieve such a pure and perfect piano sound? For years I've had to play around with my Roland and Korg piano sounds to get them to where I like them. Of course they're excellent keyboards and pianos No Doubt. But when I sit down to play only this Casio and the two others I bought do exactly that give me a piano sound that is excellent from the lower to the top octaves. This Casio adds the accompanyment rhythms and control knobs which provide me hours and hours of fun. The key bed feels great I know there's a lot of criticism out there but I believe it's unfounded. It is a happy medium of a heavy piano feel to a lighter easier feel that I can do great runs on.

The product arrived in good condition. Although it came with a cheap plastic pedal. Better than nothing at all, but plastic? So far I haven't found any fault with the keys. The app to configured on the iPad is not very professional at all. Supposedly 700 presets and tones but I barely saw 20 in the app. They need an AI interface that would take you through a run-through tutorial, that would be epic. But a child can only dream.😞

I dont leave many reviews for puurchases I make. The product has to be an absolute piece of junk or absolute quality for me to write anything about it. Well for the PX S3100 there is nothing I don't like about it. I'm so happy I purchased this over some of the others in this price range. This is perfect for any home or stage performance even. From the fully weighted keys to the superb sound engine perfectly mimicking multiple pianos and it has so many other sounds and rhythms to choose from and these are quality realistic sounds. The speakers even sound loud crisp and clear with no distortion. I've seen videos that you can not connect this piano to a DAW and use it as a midi controller but that is not true. Maybe it was the 3000 model that couldn't do it but this new upgraded 3100 can. It's digital screen is bright and easy to operate and actually looks pretty cool and with the app set up its a breeze to control I've researched the Yamahas and Roland's in this price range and they don't come close to doing what this thing can. I even purchased the Alesis highest priced prestige piano before I bought this one and returned it because it was so limited. I was very dissapointed with it but this thing is an absolute joy to play. The quality is outstanding!!! I love it. Very happy customer!!

I've been playing the piano/keyboards for about 58 years and I love combining my piano with DAWs like GarageBand and Logic Pro x. About a couple of years ago I bought the Casio PX-S3000 and I thought the world of it; small, almost portable (25 lbs) and a built to fit carrying bag. Recently I upgraded to this keyboard the PX-S3100 thinking that I just replace my keyboard on the stand and use everything that I had previously; triple pedal, stand, carrying bag. Everything fitted nicely. Now the thing is I haven't been playing around with my keyboard for 3 years now and I thought it had to do with Covid. Now I have the new PX-S3100 on the keyboard stand and my old PX-S300 has been put in the carrying bag and tucked away for storage. I thought all is well that ends well... thinking a new keyboard might do the trick in my playing slump of 3 years and then I bought another brand name keyboard and my ears perked up and I started to feel inspired. I discovered that there was something wrong with all the Casios PX line and there are two caveats... 1. Casio PXs are Stretched Tuned and 2. USB Midi and return Aux input has a micro delay somewhere. Go read up about Stretched Tuning on the internet and to some, according to the internet untrained ears that stretched tuning may sound off key. Well my ears are well trained with 58 years of keyboard playing as well as band playing and I had always thought something was off with the notes on the PX-S3000 and now the PX-3100. Luckily on the PX-S3100 you can turn off Stretch Tuning under function/keyboard/scale tuning/stretch tuning/on/off. To some ears this makes a world of difference. Every other keyboard out on the market except the new ones are all equal tuning and NOT Stretched tuning. For goodness sakes for some of the perfectionist out there telling us that stretched tuning is the way to go, it might be for a grand piano where the acoustics and analogue strings vibrates to an infinity sound but not for an electronic piano where every note sounds fake anyways. I can hear the buzz of the notes. Ok so with stretch tuning off, this fixes the PX-S3100 to sound normal. Now the second problem is the slight delay in the USB-Midi which for the average person with Midi to their iPad for recording it isn't a big problem. For me, my midi controls the Logic Pro x instrument like the Steinway Grand piano and the headphone jack outputs the sound of the Steinway Grand Piano into the Aux Input of the PX-S3100 and thus when I play a note on the PX the sound of the SteinWay Grand piano is heard on the PX speakers. I can even turn off midi local off to prevent the local px sounds so only the Logic Pro X sounds can be heard. Now playing on the PX with a steinway Grand piano is much better than the sounds of the PX alone and here is where the problem beings. Hitting the note does not immediately give you a sound. It is microsecond delayed. It is like taking a hammer and tapping a metal pipe and then a delayed "Plink" is heard and it is disconcerting. I have tried this on a iPad with GarageBand; midi out to GarageBand, camera USB connector with headphone jack output to PX AUX in and the same thing happens; a slightly delayed "Plink". What this does to my classical training (8 years of it) is making the piano feeling mushy and there is no delight in playing a mushy piano. Worse yet is the Bluetooth MIDI and Audio. On the new new Casio PX-S5000-6000-7000 there are no AUX-IN and there is no AUX-in on the PX-S1100. So I'm guessing that the only Audio in is the Bluetooth Audio and that absolutely doesn't work with the way I have my setup ie. midi to GarageBand and headphone out on iPad to ...... bluetooth Audio.... has a lag of between 1 to 2 seconds which creates an echo effect. The thing is that these two caveats only affect myself at this moment. Otherwise for everyone else the PX-S3100 is an excellent portable battery operated (25 lbs) piano and with the specialized carry bag you can carry it to the park and play to your hearts content. BUT for me.... now that I discovered why I stopped playing for 3 years, I am returning my Casio PX-S3100 and giving my old PX-S3000 to my daughter. I am moving over to another brand name for my midi needs but I'm still giving the Casio PX-S3100 five stars because it is such a great piano.
