I wanted to use the product to record samples of singing and guitar playing as practice for an album. The cabinet is very attractive and encouraging. However, there is a lot of cassette tape noise on playback.The overall sound is tinny and thin and overly sharp even ofn bass settings, with no warmth at all. it seems that new CD player/recorders must generally have much different inner parts than the ones from the 1990's etc.So this product could work for normal talking fairly well but not for music, including top line professional recording on cassette tapes

I love mine. I had bought one before in black but I took it on a camping trip and it had fallen out of the back of my truck with some luggage unfortunately, but I missed it so much I bought another in red. The Bluetooth feature is excellent and easy to use, but I love listening just to the FM radio on it, and I have an extensive cassette collection. The cassette playback function is not as good as a tape deck, and might run slow or warble a bit more than a Walkman, but I still will use it. Sound is perfectly acceptable but it is NOT bass heavy, which I don’t mind at all for passive listening. I get all kinds of comments and compliments on the 2 I’ve owned. People think they’re so cool, and much less boring than those can Bluetooth speakers. I have a Sony boombox from the 90s as well, but I always grab the QFX first because of the tactile experience. I like the feel of the clackity switches, the knobs, and tuning the FM by hand. The handle looks cheap but is actually a study metal piece that I enjoy holding as opposed to other radios made of plastic or rubber. Highly recommend for EVERY day listening, but not for hifi enthusiasts or people who want to blast bass heavy hip hop. I take mine with me everywhere.

Antenna snapped clean off right out of the box! Overall the boombox looks nice but very cheaply built. If I can get it repaired or replaced, I will update this review. Otherwise it stays as is. You've been warned.Edit: returned original unit and received replacement. The replacement was just shipped in the original retail package. No Amazon cardboard box or anything. I did not like that, but thankfully the product inside was not damaged. I very carefully opened up the box and took the radio out. Tested the antenna right away. I still felt like I had to be very gentle with it. Antenna seems to be very cheaply made and could break easily.As for everything else with the radio, it looks nice, but mediocre otherwise. For this I gave it three stars. It's an okay product but not the best.

Update tape player stopped working it just sits on the bed side stand playing but yesterday it stopped Bluetooth works radio works as card works but tape player doesn’t . Oh well out of warranty sold inferior merchandise againUpdate: Very important that when you use a SD card with an adapter, make sure the adapter is really clean or it won’t work you will think it’s the machine but it’s not , I was frustrated and ready to send my toy back lol then something in my mind made me switch out the adapter for my micro DS card and boom it worked . I was like wow .I sent my first one back as it was warped but this one I bought the same day and it’s not warped in the back or anything so it is worth it . I got a red one .I’m a little miffed that the Bluetooth sometimes doesn’t stay connected but it does re connect itself it just talks when it does so it might piss you off when your recording via blue tooth but it’s not a deal breaker I try to do that when not a lot of Bluetooth stuff is being used . So far I can deal with itI still like my boom box .This is nice however I received this for my birthday and the back part is warped it plays fine tho . The sound is OK for 40 dollars . I can’t complain but I’m returning this and just buying another one as I know it’s an enjoyable replica . But that warp will probably only get worse and it has a generous return window. But otherwise it’s nice
