It is actually quite thick, and fits just like the ones that we took off that has been there for probably 30 years. I would recommend having a mask or a respirator while you're doing this nothing harmful but you're going to encounter a lot of crud and you probably don't want that in your lungs. A heavy quality gasket and installation is a bit of a pain but if you've done one you'll be fine

These take abuse and come back for more. They will not splinter and shatter as others do if you need to remove the gun and, in my opinion, can be re-used. A keeper.
