I expected it to be awesome but it’s even better than I imagined. It’s solidly built, great thumb sticks, buttons and D-pad, it’s comfortable to hold for long gaming sessions, but the start of the show is the screen. It’s so bright and clear, games look fantastic and for the most part ply really well with some minor issues playing N64 games. Some PSP games lag a bit, but that’s to be expected for a $130 handheld. The battery lasts for hours of playtime (8+) and charging speeds are okay but not fast. Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase and can happily recommend to any retro game enthusiast.

The controls and buttons are good compared to other handhelds. The screen is a good size, but since the aspect ratio 1:1 is not common , some ES themes have a problem with adapting to this ratio. ES carbon and art-book-next work fine, others like ckau-book and hypermax have issues.Over all I like the RGCUBEXX more then RG40XXH & RG35XXH.

A you can see, the battery is dead. It's been off the charger for a bit, but therein is the problem. It's been sitting doing nothing for a couple weeks and it drained the battery from full on its own. I don't think it fully powers down when it's in idle for very long, so it just continues to sap battery until it dies entirely. Not what I expect from a modern portable. This space is pretty saturated with these retro consoles, and the other unit I have has been off for the same period of time, longer even, and have not had this issue. Its battery is nearly full in fact. Even when it's fully charged, the battery life during play is probably a few hours max. Not great. It's too bad, because this is a pretty good console otherwise. Comes with a bunch of games already (still don't know how they get away with that), and everything up to PSP is playable, mostly. It struggles with some titles. NFS is one such title. A PSX racing game that should be no issue for it, it chops at about 1 fps. Yet Tekken 3 and 6, zero issues. Inconsistent. It has Retroarch installed too, all the BIOSes are included that should run the ROMs in your library, if you have them. It does have RGB, but all of that is entirely customizable, dimmable, or you can turn it off entirely (thankfully). The d-pad and thumbsticks feel really nice in the hands and are really responsive. The triggers and shoulder buttons feel really nice too. They feel like how a game controller should feel like. Not clicky and unsatisfying. If it weren't for the battery situation, it would get a higher rating, but that's a pretty big oof.

There is a small divot or bubble on the screen of my RG CUBE XX. Assuming this is from the manufacturing process. Unfortunate!! I really like the device, but I feel like I got the short end of the Anbernic QUALITY CONTROL stick!!Not sure what the seller (FINGEREVO) would like me to do in this situation? Should I return it and order a new one before the return window closes? It is not the seller’s fault, but I feel like I have no recourse with Anbernic as I bought it from an Amazon 3rd Party Seller. Any help or guidance from the seller (FINGEREVO) would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!Edit:No reply from FINGEREVO… Ordered a screen protector and I can’t see the divot anymore. Nevertheless, I would have appreciated a reply.

Dimensions and specifications as described. Weight 240 grams. Powered by in-unit 3.8V/3,800mAh Li-Po battery. Battery life is about 5-6 hours for intense use. Power adapter input requirement is 5V/>=1.5A. Came with one USB-A to USB-C charging cable, one 64GB Micro-SD card for games and one 32GB Micro-SD card for the operating system. Kernel version Allwinner H700 Linux 4.9.170. Firmware version is V1.0.1(20241018). It feels comfortable in my hand and all buttons are very responsive. Most features are configurable. 8 levels of LED screen brightness; joystick LED light effects can be changed or turned off; 10 language settings; button custom(including joysticks). Pre-installed Apps including Music and video player; E-book reader; file manager and expert version; PDF viewer; Wiliwili(for bilibili) and App installer.Sixteen pre-installed game console emulators. PSP/PS1/NEOGEO/SMS/MD/SEGA32X/GG/NGPC/PCE/WSC and six types of arcades. All emulators run smoothly with the option to change settings by user.Hundreds of pre-installed games available with options of load ROMs and third party emulators by user for testing.Firmware updates are available on the Anbernic website. Current version code is V1.0.2(20241223). Change log indicates it added many new features and fixed known issues.I do enjoy everything it offers and strongly recommend it to anyone that loves retro games.*To update the firmware, you will need to download the zip file and unzip it to *.img file, then use Win32 Disk Imager or USB Image Tool to write to a new Micro SD card(FAT32). Enjoy!

I definitely think you have to know what you were doing when you get this if you are expecting to immediately be able to play. I had to do quite a bit of research and took quite a bit of time before figuring out how to download the games and where to go to get them that would be the safest place. Outside of that this feels really nice in your hand and everything feels very nice quality especially for this price point. I think if you are looking for a really smooth, nice quality emulator this is the one for you but you will want to either know what you are doing or have plenty of time to do plenty of research. I think they should let it come with tons of pre-downloaded games to save everyone the trouble and then it would definitely be a five-star product LOL! Still really nice and definitely feels like a higher quality product! Still a solid 8 out of 10 and worth the money for sure

This handheld has a bunch of games on the second card, not sure why it arrives separately, but it is in the bottom of the box, the unit has a second microSD slot that you just plug it into and its off to the races. The unit itself seems really well made, the buttons have a rewarded press level, the thumbstick have smooth motion, one thing I noticed is make sure your stick is not pressed in a direction on boot, otherwise it seems to not recognize that direction and you need to reboot. (happened 2x to me).The screen has a high res for this sized unit, which makes the fonts a bit small, but you can change them to make them larger in the menu. The screen is good even for video, the player it arrives with is just for Chinese style videos, but this unit can add apps, its not locked. The sound is decent for something so small, nothing to brag about, but it functions. I also was having issues getting my headphones to connect, so it might need an update down the road. The battery life for me is not super important, my car has USB charging ports, so most of the time I won't need the units power.

Right out the box,you can tell this new model is a great addition to anyone who loves handheld retro consoles.the screen ration is perfectly fine and suitable for all emulators included.it doesnt come with all your favorite roms (you have to install them yourself which is pretty easy to do)and has some bulit in famous roms too.the sound quality is great, the buttons click easily, the design is great for long time plays without getting hand sores, the analog sticks is more precise than older versions and has great rpg light effects which can be changed in settings.

What is mean is unless your content with just what's on the hand console than knowing how and where to get games from a trusted source is difficult. This is a really cool pocket emulator. Any rom you find online for any of the consoles on the device will play but you'll run into issues and sketchy sites trying to force install software and it is like a puzzle finding the button that's hidden behind viruses. And unless you know how to do that you run a risk of putting your self ar risk just trying to play a specific game from your child hood from the 90s. But for someone like me. Yes. 5 stars all around. However if your familiar with emulators and have used some before where you can boost the game and skip frames. This doesn't do that. So no forced grinding in games like pokemon or final fantasy.
