I bought it to replace some no name clarinet mouthpiece that was supplied with my buffet b12. My hope was that i could futher remove some squeaks. The original mouthpiece just didn't feel right, too sketchy and prone to squeeking. Well the Graftonite B5 looks almost identical in many ways but plays much better. The cork is snug but does fit. The odd ridge on the reed table is not noticeable when actually playing and my "carmichael" leather ligature fits well enough. Compared to the one that came with the instrument, I can bend the pitch a bit more and is let prone to odd frequencies in the sound. Overall it sounds slightly less classical and possibly a bit more suited to jazz. But for practice of any style of music, if you were otherwise stuck with a crappy mouthpiece, the b5 would be a worthy upgrade. I might like to try a bigger tip opening and different chamber size just for fun, this one is in the normal range for a beginner, not too open, not too crazy. Its definitely playable and well worth the 20 quid.

Lousy brand. Lousy tone, regardless of reed.

I do feel as this mouthpeice is a very high quality one, much better than the one that came with my clarinet in the first place. And not to much $$ for what you get... the cork is very thick and will not completely go together with the other piece if you get what I'm trying to say. Will take a lot of sanding down before I can use. But when I do that, i think it will work wonderfully. It also looks just like the photos!
