This was my second book nook kit. Bought it April 2024 and just built it last month in December. Just be cautious of the full color sheet labeled "C". This was the only real minor problem I had. The small individual pink flowers, C19 C20 & C21 had some lamination issues. These sheets are all plywood. A few of these little pink flowers came apart. Not a big problem, just glue them back together. It may have just a glitch in the kit I have.

First time ever doing something like but it was Fairly easy actually. You just need to follow the instructions and have the patience and it will not be as annoying as people say. Took about 8 hours - took me two days felt like finishing the next day.Only extra tools are some scissorsAnd something like tweezers, Like from eyebrows for the small stickers.

I find the process of assembly very calming. I don't want to think about what I'm doing. I like wood 3d model, lego type building blocks, nuts and bolts type model kits and book nook kits. I enjoy doing the book nook kits the most. So, I've completed 8 kits with different difficulty levels. The first one was a good beginner kit. It was Butterfly of Unknown Lands. It got me hooked on these kits. My least favorite was a Christmas present kit. It had window displays on either side and a little town inside. Oh my gosh it was irritating, fiddly and a pain in the backside. Everything was DIY. The wood wasn't pre-printed for you. The trees had to be assembled from cotton balls and pieces of green foam. Even the tiny presents had to be "wrapped". Some people like that type of kit. For me, it was NOT relaxing. I had to modify quite a bit of it because of my low vision and shaking hands. There were way too many tiny pieces. because my hands shake too much for tiny pieces. Needless to say, I swore I would never do one like that again.Anyway, the Sakura Tram is definitely one of my favorites. It surprised me. I was expecting it to be fairly simple. It's not. It was pleasantly difficult. This one is the step above going into full DIY. You have to assemble EVERYTHING. There are a ton of pieces. The sakura trees and river have multiple layers giving them depth. In fact, everything is like that. Each shutter is at least two pieces. The awnings are about 10 pieces each. The train was awesome. The directions are in black and white. However, they are very clear. Each step is clearly defined. There are tiny parts. It wasn't a huge problem for me even with my shaking hands and poor vision. This one was worth every penny. If you are the type that likes to test the waters first, I suggest doing an easier one like "Butterfly of Unknown Lands", "Sailing Memory", or "Su Dongpo (Ancient China Mountain Scene)". This way you have an idea of how they come together. If you are the type to go straight to the deep end, then go for it. Heck, what do I know. I'm older and slower with shaking hands and poor vision :) I used to have a friend that would always say "It's not a mistake. It's a design feature".

I recall seeing this product's ads on instagram a long time ago. I couldn't believe how cute and well-made the product looked like in the ads. Then I totally forgot about this. Two month agos, while I was shopping for a book stand, I found this again and purchased it without hesitation. This was purchased as my own Christmas gift. During the holiday, I found spent two whole days to finish the building. It was really fun. The guidebook is properly made. I could follow it steps by steps to complete it. I love the entire process and will probably buy other similar products.

Got this as a gift for my husband who loves trains and it fits into our bookshelf aesthetic. It is definitely possible to build alone - but a lot of fun as a couple's activity. I would find the pieces and my husband would assemble and then we would switch off every few pages. It took us about 6 hours total to build and it looks great! Love all of the details and the craftsmanship!I would recommend being extremely careful when removing the pieces - we did break a few pieces that have skinnier parts and had to frankenstein them back together. We also used a small detail paintbrush to help with glue so we didn't get glue all over our fingers and onto all the other wood pieces.Definitely take your time and it will come out looking amazing!

It looks great when done, though the glue was hard and unusable. While putting together, some parts are very difficult to slip in, especially with the windows, which caused some pieces to break (we were gentle with it). The biggest problem was that we didn’t test the lights before it was fully assembled, and they did not work. New batteries, took out the electrical and tried wiring each individually, still didn’t work. We will keep it as it’s too late to send it back, but will be skeptical about buying something like this in the future.

Such a good time building it. Required more glue then expected but what the provided was more then enough. The instruction were easy to read and even the electricity was easy to wire. I look forward to trying another one in the future!

Took 2 people about 8 hours to build. Glue wasn't dry, and had no problems with the lights either. Some of the wood pegs/slots were sliiiiightly misaligned, so keeping all 3 walls together before screwing them in was a pain, but honestly at a glance you don't notice any of it.

Bought this as a second gift for my wife. As it reminds us of our time in Kyoto, Japan. The whole train scene is just really cool. The actual assembly went ok, some very small pieces were a bit difficult to put together. I would say that they really need to rethink the sequence of putting things together. I had difficulty with a certain section that involved gluing the gray cardboard, which is supposed to look like corrugated metal sheets. I had crushed the cardboard while gluing it on the wooden roof part.According to the instructions, you were supposed to glue the cardboard on the wooden roof before attaching it to the building. But when you try to attach the finished roof, it doesn’t always fit into place without some pressure. So I feel that you should glue the cardboard on the wooden roof with it already assembled in place. There were a couple of other instances where if you follow the instruction sequence, that you it is actually very difficult to assemble. But all in all this one is great and fun to do. It does not have any painting, just gluing little pieces of paper and things like that. The other designs are a bit more difficult as they involve painting multiple layers of paint in order to complete the bookend. So this one is a bit easier to complete and assemble. Have fun and take your time if you are going to do it. I was under a time crunch and didn’t want my wife to see what I was assembling. Best part is that they all light up and have such a nice look when done.

As a non-crafty person with big hands, this was surprisingly easy to build. The high quality pieces were strong enough to stay intact even when getting squished by my big fingers. Taking a little over 11 hours to build solo, the instructions were easy to follow, allowing for a pleasant building experience.Aside from two AAA batteries to power the lights, the kit contained everything required to construct. Although the kit does have its own white glue, I opted to use a clear glue just because it was easier to adjust pieces before they dried. The piece of sandpaper included proved to be very useful in smoothing out the edges of the pieces to get a cleaner look. Connecting the wiring for the lights was rather simple and quite easy to figure out, even for someone without any prior experience doing such things before. The end result is wonderful and the incredible amount of details makes this a real treasure to look at. As long as you're patient and careful, the building process and final product will be well worth your time.

My gosh did this turn out cute! I don't know if I'm just slow but 6 hours assembly time was way off! I did this while on vacation with lots of free time and it took 5 days.. well, let's see and hour and a half a day maybe it was close. A couple of problem pieces- the flowers just have semi-outlines on some of the tree branches (ended up just guessing), missed the bottom front of tram and could only fit half of it on after tram was in place-the step to get on the tram needed to be further back, front box broke off (don't know what it was anyway), watch out for that front display window-I glued the display in place before putting on the window so no plastic window, finally love the lights and they WILL turn on if you put the on/off switch in the correct orientation behind that printed "picture" of a switch.I highly recommend this activity and I think its cute enough to gift.

I bought this before the price almost doubled...ah, inflation. For this reason, I'm not going to return it, but soldier on with my trusty jar of Mod Podge. If I'd spent the kind of money that this kit costs now, oh, different story. Unless the material has improved, I'd say this isn't worth the money, IMO. Sometimes the pieces fit together with a satisfying click. Other times, it's pretty frustrating. If I don't push hard enough, pieces don't click in. If I slowly and gently increase the pressure to get a fit, by the time the pieces are locked together, the wood of one piece has splintered or the cardboard of another has sagged or even snapped.I'm almost done this kit, and there's a lot of Mod Podge in it and more than one broken piece glued together. More than two or three, in fact.FYI, I'm a woman with average-sized hands and the ability to follow instructions that are wordless, just diagrams.Fair warning!
