I use a Sennheiser 421B mic with my M-Audio ADC/DAC. I used to have to have the mic preamp volume on the M-Audio at almost full gain and it was very sensitive to the setting. With the Highrise in line, I can set the volume at a more normal level and without as much touchiness to the setting.

I'm using a Beyerdynamic M70 pro dynamic microphone with the Samson Highrise. Without the Highrise, I would need to turn the gain on my audio interface all the way up to get a good signal with my dynamic mic. After inserting the Highrise into the signal chain, I now only have to turn the gain on my interface up halfway to get a good signal.The product feels solid and I like the options for choosing between 20 or 30db of gain, adding a high frequency lift, and the low cut. This mic activator is more versatile than the CL-1 Cloudlifter for half the price. Note that the Highrise does require plantom power to work.
