These muffs worked great; fired up a Yamaha 40 horse outboard and a Mercury 30 horse outboard a few times using these already without any issue. The arm is made of metal which is a really nice thing and so much more durable than the plastic variety. The muffs themselves are made of a soft, rubbery type plastic so they are easy to mold and hold to the correct spot when needed. Also, pro tip: the circular shape of these seems to work much, much better than the more expensive square-shaped ones. ;) We are happy with them!

The the metal arch holding together two "headphones" is maybe a bit tender for a professional application when you constantly need to bend it to adjust for different width lower units but it's definitely good for driveway start or flushing of your outboard motor few times a season.Fits my Mercury 9.9hp 4 stroke water intake nicely without too much water leaking, provides enough water flow to run it without risk of damaging the impeller or overheating the motor.
